just wrote an answer to crash about the tipping thing, and then when sent it, thread closed!

i would personally never tip for take out food, i tip if you eat at the restaurant, since you're tipping for the good service while you're at the a table, or tip if delivery since you're tipping for your food getting there on time and hot (seems kinda weird now that i've seen other cultures, because that should be what you're paying for in price of the food, but im american originally and thats what i'm used to)

Only exception for take out, is if im there early, or i order on site and wait til it to get down, if its slow and i have a good conversation or a good laugh with the person working i'll throw the change in the tip jar.

Not sure if all thats right, but personally what i do.

also what is the good new nas song you posted on other thread? Didn't work for me on youtube... name?

Not sure what reggae song you posted and I think I've told you before, but check out Stephen and Kymani Marley as well (not Ziggy - he sucks). Also Buju Banton is solid and more modern. For more classic (more like Bob), check out Peter Tosh.

If you'd like your reggae a bit out of the box and with a subtle bit of religion, you could try Matisyahu. White Orthodox Jew does reggae...

Beenie Man is a bit more dancehall than reggae (more upbeat) and is hard to understand, but you could check him out.

And finally, I'd look more to the ska-ish side of Reggae (think the mellower Sublime songs). My current Fav: The Slackers

the youtube vids show up correctly for me. reggae song from last month's thread was SOJA - rasta courage. thanks for recs will try to check some of that out in the future. i like matisyahu and sublime already.

Listened to a couple soja tracks on YT. Meh, not a fan, but I can't really place why other than that it seems like reggae light. Could be US dudes trying the "reggae" accent or the absence of horns or some other production issue. I hear UB40, only slower.

Anyhoo... THe muslim girl in my class said something today about sharia law in saudi arabia and chopping off hands. I said something then about it being mentioned in the Quran to which see appeared to think I was some kind of ignoramus. So now I have found the passage suggesting this and asked about it as politely as possible through the student email... Now I tihnk it was a bad idea.

I have this stereotype of muslims wanting to stab me with a sword if I talk about their faith. I know it's dumb, but I have read things like some girl told her dad about their religious education teacher and then he got killed by a gang. I want to try it on with her but my instinct is warning me against it for fear of death by stoning or something.
