Playing 50pl on a site that doesn't allow HUDS, No real info on villain, not played many hands with him. Was wondering what people thought about this hand should I fold river, or play any other streets differently ?, Any comments appreciated.

5 Handed

Hero Open JJT8 to $1.75 from UTG from $57 stack

Folds to villain who calls in SB from $73 stack, BB folds

Flop 988

Villain checks, Hero bets $2, Villain check raises to $6.50, Hero calls.

Turn: 988T

Villain bets pot $17 , Hero calls

River: 988T A

Villain shoves, Hero has $32 behind.

you lost and he had 99 is my guess, if you won this hand you would never post. I would just shove turn, with 2 jacks you block draws heavily and when he bets pot he's never folding.

How do you feel about our relative hand strength here?

I don't feel good about it, especially on this river.

Not saying fold, just try and think of some hands an average villain takes this line with that we beat.

No way you won this hand and and made this thread so obv answer is to fold.

Honestly though at 50 this is probably a way under bluffed line given this runout so if you don't think he will value stack himself with 98 you should probably fold. Also not having a HUD is certainly not an excuse for not having reads on the opponents lol.

Without reads on a single villain I probably check flop, we aren't scared of any bad turns and it's nice to have ok 8s in our range. If we get check raised we aren't in a good spot vs. anyone sane (can't fold easily; block draws; block our FH outs; most 8s that do it have J9 crushed).

As played on flop I probably shove turn and hope he has worse.

As played to river, *shrugs* both options suck so I probably call. That A should be much better for your range, though he could be thinking that he's never folding so why not put it in directly.

Assuming he has 99, unless it's a very good 99 I'd mentally note that he's a massive fish.

Thanks for comments, Yeah I lost the hand because I decided to fold on river, felt like he had 99 or A8 to often and not sure if he would shove river with 89, I couldn't see him bluffing enough here, prob should have shoved turn like a few of you said. Interesting comment about checking flop didn't even really consider this when I was playing but I like idea and reasons for it.

Agree with shove turn

River is pretty close as played, I don't hate a fold in a vacuum

How does the way we play this out change if we have 89TJ instead? Or JJ89

Check back flop. As played, I agree with turn jam.
