$0.05/$0.10 PS zoom. No specific reads other than it's $10PLO. I am UTG w/ T 9 7 5.

Hero has $10
BTN has $7.

Hero raises to $0.35, BTN calls, SB calls, BB folds.

I hope PF is standard. I've seen some regs raise less than pot but from my POV I want pots to be as big as possible to magnify opponent's errors postflop. This also increases the rake so I can see an argument to be made for keeping the pot smaller preflop.

---

Flop ($1.15): 8 6 5
SB: $9.65
Hero: $9.65
BTN: $6.65

SB checks, Hero bets $0.80, BTN calls, SB folds.

Nuts with well-disguised hand = bet. On this board, checking this hand would protect my range (i.e. AAxx, KKxx, and higher connectors) but 97xx needs to be in my betting range.

---

Turn ($2.75): 8 6 5 5
Hero: $8.85
BTN: $5.85

Hero checks, BTN checks.

I have equity and the pot is a decent size. I'm still not sure what I gain from betting. I can win the pot with a better hand, but I like checking. I'm drawing nearly dead vs 88 and 66 but have outs vs. 85 and 86. A straight might give up one bet but not two bets, therefore checking the turn and betting a brick river might help me achieve that. I suppose there is a backdoor flush draw now but I didn't have this concern at the time.

---

River ($2.75): 8 6 5 5 7
Hero: $8.85
BTN: $5.85

Hero checks, BTN bets $1.32, I call.

I backdoored an underfull. After I checked I realized it was a mistake. Fortunately I was lucky enough to have BTN bet and considered a c/r to $3. However, I wasn't sure if villain would call with a worse hand.

Now that I'm stepping back from the hand after the fact, I realize that I'm an idiot in that assumption because I've seen some very loose river check/raise calls because players at 10PLO are awful. If betting the river is the best play, how much do you bet?

Thanks in advance for any thoughtful responses. Funny to see the Omaha forum still filed under "Other Poker" after all these years.

Pre-flop can't be a profitable openraise in my eyes, I need reads that players behind are very tight (fishy is not an argument for an openraise with this hand). Raise at most 1 gap hands if not all cards are 7 or higher.

From a balancing POV I think you played the hand fine, x/r river seems to be too thin to me. But given it's PLO10 I prefer to bet against one card straights (overpairs?^^) more than x/c and let him decide the bet size or let him check his straight .

Fold pre, you are going to get yourself in so many tough and/or dominated spots playing that loose UTG, especially at micro plo where it is super likely to go multi way to the flop
