This answer i was waiting for. I think there is much truth in it that you should play less, study more and rest enough... Volume goes down, winrate raises, risk of variance is lower and tilt issues become less an issue... In total the much better solution also in terms of poker/life-balance and i think often more $/month than grinding hard.

Here is the thread i was referring to. Old, but anyway...

If you care for a soundbite from a newb, this is the money making strat, IMO! Just its so hard at least for me to put myself in study mode, when there is so much money brought by fish to the tables!

Should we spent so many time studying when we are beating stakes?

What about just grind and study soft, make bankroll till the dificult of the next stakes gets tough, then study harder to beat them?

Even if you are beating a stake you are never making all the correct plays and there are lots of places to improve. How big your winrate is shoudln't affect how much you study.

That being said I have no real room to talk. I typically don't do a ton of studying, i go 2 months just playing and then I go ham for a month and basically all study and no play. I do review basically every hand I play after session though but I dont' count that personally as study. Not really learning anything new just trying to minimize mistakes.

I don't think stop playing is a good idea. Why should one do it if tables are profitable?

I vote for playing + studying at the same time

I'm not saying that's what you should do, that's what I do which I know isn't correct but I have a hard time staying motivated to seriously study each night. I just do hand reviews daily is about all.
