Why Has the Poker Been Stopped on UK TV?

Anybody know?

They used to have poker on Tuesday and Wedenesday night on C4 and C5. It's disappeared this week with no explanation. I was really enjoying watching The Big Game, even though it was 2 years old, it was new to me.

Channel 4 are "resting" the EPT for the summer months.

Yes, I know this break comes (incredibly inconveniently and annoyingly) between the penultimate and final episodes of the 2012 PCA Main Event (I don't think the schedulers were following the tournament!) but the series WILL be back on the air in September.

I live in Scotland, so I didn't realise it was summer.

Thanks for the reply, Mr Hartigan. I think this is the first time a TV presenter has replied to me on teh internet.

Re: Why Has the Poker Been Stopped on UK TV?

Need more Late night poker, 24 hour cash games, party poker league etc. I do enjoy watching EPT and UKIPT events, but it's generally watching a load of young kids sitting in hoodies and glasses barely saying a word. I agree the poker is of a much higher standard, and interesting to anyone looking to improve their game, but for entertainment I'd much rather watch viffer trying to bluff with 72 vs phil laak in some crazy cash game, or luke shcwartz needling people like in the premier league.

You get poker on channel 204 on Sky, or something like that. High Stakes Poker episodes are on late at night (1 episode a night).

Its definitely on a channel close to that number like 202-206.

Is that the last broadcast episode ie what would have been shown on c4 ? I clicked a link that james hartigan tweeted but that appeared to be full coverage of the final table, which I dont really have the time to sit through

No idea when Late Night Poker is coming back. Partypoker events are usually shown on Sky Sports or Channel 5 I think.

Just watch the PCA FT on Youtube in nice bite sized bits. Look out for the hand where the graphic guys get the hand wrong HU lol.

Yeah episode 9 is the FT episode not live coverage.

BTW guys, off topic but I've never found the 2011 WSOP ME FT episodes (rather than the live coverage). If anyone could point me towards somewhere I can find them it would be appreciated.

Last I saw, ruddy Sky pilfered Late Night Poker back *again* but at least The Big Game resumed on Ch5 last night ... or technically this morning I suppose. There is a site with all the episodes up but somehow it's not the same as watching on the telly.

UPDATE:

Channel 4 has agreed to broadcast Episode 9 of the PCA Main Event (final table) on Tuesday 31st July.

The final table of the PCA $25k High Roller will be shown the following week.

The channel will then resume its "summer break" - and the EPT Berlin Main Event shows should start to air in September.

Thanks for the update. Do you know if pokerstars.tv will upload EPT Berlin before it airs on tv?

No, the EPT Berlin shows will appear on PokerStars.tv after they've aired on Channel 4 in the UK.

Normally, each episode is uploaded the day after it's been broadcast.
