Pretty shocking/sad display of bad manners/superiority complex. And then having the nerve to come to this thread, accusing the guy of lying...

lol

I get a sense that you might have meant most enjoyable 6:37 to exclude the first five seconds that start out: "I know I'm supposed to be impartial, but I think Vanessa Selbst is my knew favorite poker player."

So hilarious. And when she turns to Antonio and asks "why do I do this to myself?"
"Hahahahaha.." "I don't know why you just did that...".

And then Prahlad trying to console her after like "yeah $35k is the perfect amount if I am bluffing, I am capable of that play" lol yehh...

Sounds like the sort of stuff you hear at a 1/2 live table with the regs tryna keep the fish happy and reloading, brilliant!

Edit: and all the crap she keeps talking, "ugh not even a sweat" on the third flop after the second flop gave her a FD. Pretty sure that's a massive sweat. And then "How do I not win one of those?" Sort of thing you say when it's AKcc vs two red 8s and 8s scoop, not j7 vs AA lol

So many LOL moments.
Laark stoking the fire.
AE trying not to laugh at her spew.
Prahlad trying to console her that she made a good play because he can be bluffing in these spots.
I always stop the tape when the director stands up to shake VS's hand...cringe.

I just love how poker players get angry over the silliest things, when so many people in this world put up with 10000000x's more crap than they do, simply just to accrue zeros and little pieces of green paper.

I had a well respected pro at my table at a WSOP $1K event. The ENTIRE time, he was complaining we couldn't get a waitress at the table (where at the WSOP, it can be notoriously bad...and has been for a while now. It's basically a moonlanding for those of us who have gone there for the last 4+ years).

This guy is a millionaire, good looking girlfriend, and traveling to places I'll probably never see (unless I run good at some point in my life). He was such on tilt over this, he made one of the worst plays against the only other player (a pro) who was tighter than me at the table, and felted.

Here I am, on vacation from a job where my wage is stagnant in terms of the cost of life where I live; where each year we've seen people get laid off, benefits slashed, days off taken away, and more asked of me (while executives get bonuses and the stock price goes up). And I, IMO, have it *good*, because this country still is 4 million off from the jobs lost from 2008.

And here is this guy, complaining he CAN'T GET A F'ING BOTTLE OF WATER.

I understand the majority of poker pros are young and somewhat immature; I was there once.

I understand most are competitive; during my early years, I'd go on tilt and say snide comments after bad beats.

And, like most, I had a nice secondary livelihood taken from me by my government on 4/15 (which would of accelerated helping me pay off my debt, build a roll, and escape from the corporate serfdom I am currently under).

But as I've matured, and understand the role of luck in the game. I understand that in order to better myself not only as a player, but as a PERSON, what is need is a better life perspective.

I'd just wish some of these players (most of which are staked in these tournaments they play), would show the same.

Her game is sick, and it's always awesome to see an active 2p2'er achieve success.

It's hard to be a "fan" with that bitchy attitude, though. Having character and personality is one thing -- oozing contempt is another.

A number of things make me laugh about selsbt I wil now explain

1) there are no friends at the poker table. I am trying to bust you and take all your chips. And that's that. The only time i had a friend at the poker table was when I went to Vegas and played literally with my friend. We agreed not to bluff each other and if we had a cooler for say $800 we would prob give a lot back to the friend like $250 or something. But other than that, no friends (also in a proper tournament that would be collusion and you'd be banned)

2) I love how people moan at others peoples play. I paid the money I'll call when I want, fold whn I want and raise when I want. If I ****ing want to go all in blind every hand pre flop then I will. If I want to call your 8 bet all in shove with 7 2 off suit then I will. Don't tell me how I should or shouldn't play with MY MONEY

3) "he's coming after me" - ad yet, you were 6 bet shoving with 4s. I thought you don't do that to 'friends'. If I was Kevin McPhee (thinking like selsbt) I would be like wtf?

And In general I'm glad I saw someone call her. She's always doing it and getting away with it. So good to see some one pick a bluff off.

Oh and finally people saying its a bad call... Throughout poker history people talk of players beig 'ahead of the curve'. Well not so long ago a 5 to 6 bet meant aces or kings. Now good players, ahead of the curve, realise this was a good way to bluff as everyone folds. McPhees call was simply ahead of the curve. He's now realised that the next evolution is to call the 6 bet, because villain isn't as strong as you'd think. Hence why it was a good call

Bad players will berate me for that statement, but good players will know what I'm talking about

Pretty much. One of the best litmus tests for poker a$$hattery is how much (or little, as you show) the person applies the same rules to themselves as they do to others.

Nice post.

QFT. I would like to see a rule that when players get knocked out from a tournament, they are immediately taken to the nearest children's hospital and forced to tell their bad beat story to the kids in the cancer ward.

I wonder what her reaction was at the PCA to

She has ace king flop ten high. Villain has ace ten.

She bets, he raises, she re raises, he raises all in.. She calls

And spikes a king on the river. So looks like she plas like a ****** herself. And what's funny is I would say that is far worse than McPhees hand. He worked out where he was at In the hand and made a great call.

In this hand she was behind made a **** call and got lucky

Selbst is a ****ing **** (or at least acts like one every single time one of her superstar moves go wrong)

Thatīs about it.

As far as poker strategy goes, the way this hand played out is the perfect example as to why calls like this may be correct vs her some of the time.

Why does everybody hate her? Because she makes plays like this and goes on monkey tilt when somebody makes a somewhat thin, though not always incorrect call vs her. She plays like an absolute maniac and kinda expects people to fold vs her like you would make vs an old nit. BIG LOL.

She deserves everything she gets, end of story.

It's one of those things where her playstyle gets her into these messes because she's gets locked into playing an angle and can't get away from it... but she seems to always say, "Why did I do that?"

Err... It's the way you play, Vanessa.
