Stapes is going overboard with the strategy talk. Waaayy tooo much educationing for the amateurs. Once he brought up "reverse implied odds" in the hand where hellmuth 3bet A3o was the tipping point. He really has to stop now.

should be more of ... "I have no idea why Prahlad just folded Queen-Six suited - its suited and can hit two neighborhoods, can hit a low card or a high card. he's probably playing tight since he's on TV.."

Agreed. I could not imagine a player worse than Wiggins. I still can't, but luckily I no longer have to imagine such a player starting this week.

Sometimes he's talking complete crap pokerwise (and is serious about it), but I guess people don't catch that because he's 'cool'.

I think he's cool, too, btw.

I thought the Rapper/Producer was bad. Oy! There is no way this guy made it through these freerolls. It's almost like PStars just wants to throw away the 100k. You can make your show watchable without throwing away the 100k. People want to see decent Loose Cannon's with a chance to win.

Hard not to root for the LC since he is such a nice guy, he definitely is proof that "... the nicer the guy, the poorer the card player"...

Water's wet, the sky is blue, I tilt easily, and Loose Cannons are going to play poorly. These are all givens. Bemoaning the LC's poor play is counter-productive. The producer's probably want the Loose Cannon to be an underdog the average viewer can cheer for.

It's better if the LC does play poorly getting stuck in the beginning so he'll have to push the Loose Cannon switch, trying to gamble it up to get back over $100k. Watching the pro's trying to jostle each other out of the way to get at the dead money could make for some interesting pots.

Consider how boring it would be if a LC got a little lucky, early on, winning $20-$30k, then nitting it up trying to bring something home.

Certainly, if a pro were playing like this, then the criticism would be warranted. But this is not HSP; it's a quasi gameshow.

Wonder why episode 3 is not up yet?

Hope they get LCs from more than just the US and Canada in the future.

Aren't you guaranteed to win a tournament if you get literally lucky on every hand?

hellmuth wasnt a douche when he was 23 because he was some childrens book writer. when he won the main event at 24, he didnt seem arrogant at all. (well, he hadnt got anything to brag about yet.)
maybe he got more arrogant as the years went by and he got more self-confidence etc.
and I think hellmuth has good social skills outside the table. he just is a bad loser and theres a little acting too.

You can still fold after getting lucky.

I don't really see that as being too much of a problem. I really don't see too many amateurs hearing stapes comment about reverse implied odds and understanding it if that's the first time they heard of it. Someone who isn't serious about poker enough to read an article or deep enough in thought to already understand reverse implied odds won't get much education from a comment on it.

EXAMPLE TIME!!!!!
I recall discussing implied odds with some poker buddies (some serious and some "just for fun players") maybe 18 months ago. Just last week one of them approached me on my opinion on the concept of "pot odds and pricing." He was a part of the aforementioned conversation.

DN is just getting worse and worse. He has this way of talking down to the LC like he doesnt have a clue... and he doesnt, but jfc.. I'm sure he'd say he's just trying to engage him/ have some fun, but it comes off as really immature and annoying.

At least show some respect - engage him in conversation and LISTEN instead of jumping infront of the camera everytime the guy starts to talk. LC is almost twice his age and has more wisdom and experience then DN probably will ever have in his life.

Just wanted to chime in here. Dani is a great guy and I am happy he is on the show this week. His back-and-forth needling with PH is probably overdone, but that is a large part of the "story line" this week (internet stars vs old-school live pros).

Agreed. DN is talking to LC like he's a ******, and not a normal human being who happens to be terrible at poker. Maybe it's part of his tactics of playing with amateurs, but it looks bad.

I just started watching these episodes on pokerstars.tv and what tilts me the most about the LC is his big, yellow old-man thumbnail when he squeezes his cards.

I have to close my eyes every time he squeezes, it's so repugnant.
