Independent Gambling Movies just came up as a Netflix category for me so figured I'd list them for you. They're not all poker but since they're on Netflix they're probably all available one way or another. Here you go; The Air I Breathe, Saint John of Las Vegas, Croupier, The Good Thief, Finder's Fee, Player 5150, Familia, Turn The River, Poolhall Junkies
The only one of these I've seen/heard of is Croupier which I thought was ok but not great, how do the others rate?
If you don't mind watching an old movie from the 60s 'The Cincinnati Kid' starring Steve McQueen was actually pretty good for it's time...and the game is 5-card stud...
The Cincinnati Kid is a nice movie, but doesnt involve much poker..
Rounders is the only true POKER MOVIE out there, looking forward for Rounders 2 and I hope they pay more attention to bet sizing..

How did you luck out on the Category? Nice to list, but I don't get that category (is it one of the specialties like "Dark Natural Documentaries?"

I think it said it was based on Rounders and The Hustler. Just rate the movies you like 5-stars, if some of them are gambling movies you'll see stuff like this from time to time. I think that's how it works anyway. This is on the computer as well, I never get good categories when watching from the gaming console. Oh, and yes probably like "Dark Natural Documentaries" just based on different stuff.
Watched Shade the other night. Has poker scenes but is mostly about cheating. Was watchable I suppose but not much better than that.
Awesome poker movie that I havent really seen mentioned on this site is Maverick with Mel Gibson. Not only is the whole premise about poker, its a really really good movie.
