Phil Ivey bluff vs Antonius and Benyamine

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88sl1AFFaHY

Hands starts at 30.40

What are your thoughts on Iveys play? I know its all high level and advanced etc but still.. I just find this an odd hand and worth discussing.

Ok ivey holds a king and 3 players are to the river - so he MUST know one of them has the flush. The hand certainly played out that way. Or at least there is a very high likely hood someone has it

I can only think one of 2 things

1) - At some point in the hand, instead of putting one of them on the flush he actually puts them on a hand likes 7s, 8s, 9s etc.. and the other player on a king. (both with no diamond) therefore, he can bet big and win the pot

or

2) - He realises one of them has the flush, but to bet big there shows so much strength. For someone to be betting into the pot, that for someone to call, they must have at least the full house. And someone with the Ace high flush just cannot possibly call there.

Personally Im suprised Benyamine folded though. Only the Ace beats him (and full house). But with the board being K K 2 4 5 you would be very unlucky if someone had K 4 or K 5 etc.. only 2's would really make sense here.

The only thing that goes strongly in Iveys favour is that it was a family pot pre flop - and so a hand like K4 or K5 may actually be possible, but youd be unlucky. But as for the Ace flush - in a multi way pot has someone really called runner runner with the Ace of diamonds? Or, got the flush draw on the flop too? Personally, i dont think so,

And also you have to question why he called all the way to the river with a flush draw, only to fold

Re: Phil Ivey bluff vs Antonius and Benyamine

This is a great example of what a mofo Ivey is. He pretty much realizes where everyone is at and bets out with the fourth diamond on the river. He knows someone with a King (either PA or Benyamine) can't call and unless someone has the Ace of diamonds (which he is representing), they can't call.

Benyamine says out loud "there is no bluff in this pot" and there isn't.... unless you're Ivey.

That's the point the king of diamond is on the flop. So only the ace beats benyamine flush wise. I jus don't get his play to call all the way with 2nd best flush, paired flop, to fold on the river.

Its obv. A v tough spot but I think it's one of them ones where by they either have you or don't...

Re: Phil Ivey bluff vs Antonius and Benyamine

I think Ivey has a lot of history with DB and PA and felt comfortable in the pot. I doubt he put Patrick on the K but probably did put one of them on a baby flush. He may have been chasing a boat on the turn and sensed some fear of the nut Ace or a boat and figured he could turn his hand into a bluff depending on DB's and PA's reaction when the river card hit assuming that it was a diamond. He called the turn like someone who was chasing with the Ace so this would be a believable line. The 40k donk bet was polarizing and bluffy, probably tricking DB into thinking Ivey was leveling him into making a bad call.
