Norman Chad: Why?
I do not understand how he is on and why he is on.
I assume he knows somebody who knows somebody who knows somebody, but why would somebody tell him to go talk about poker when he knows absolutely nothing about poker? |
Re: Norman Chad: Why?
Entertainment value.
He was in the right place at the right time 6 years ago. |
Re: Norman Chad: Why?
I love the guy. It's a ton better than Mike Sexton and his over serious manner and over dramatic style. Did you hear that comment Norman made about Dan Harrington and an insurance scam? Pure gold.

Re: Norman Chad: Why?
i find chad adds comedy to the poker game and enjoy listenin 2 his gags, even if he isn't funny your laughing at him

Re: Norman Chad: Why?
The guy's a riot - one of the funniest commentators on TV. Leave him alone.
|
Re: Norman Chad: Why?
I think he is entertaining, which is what he is paid to be.
|
Re: Norman Chad: Why?
I really like Norman Chad too. His ex-wife jokes are great.
:D |
Re: Norman Chad: Why?

Re: Norman Chad: Why?
norman chad is so cringeworthy though, i personally cant stand him but i do beleive that he is used to help temper the poker for non poker playing viewers on espn.
although i do beleive that there are many better candidates out there.......there must be |

Re: Norman Chad: Why?
I have to watch the WTP with the mute button on.
Norman Chad knows his Seinfeld history. Good enough for now. |
Re: Norman Chad: Why?
He's fine for donkaments because they appeal to the general public, but he would be terrible for televised deep stacked cash games that the more hardcore players watch.
|
Re: Norman Chad: Why?
i kind of have a soft spot for norm from an entertainment perspective, but would it kill the guy to learn a little about poker? this is one of the main things he's been doing for several years now. it's frustrating listening to him talk about a concept as simple as pot odds and get it completely wrong. of course you could argue that it's good if he's giving bad advice to the masses, but i think the effect is pretty negligible since part of his shtick (besides the ex-wife thing) is that he claims to be bad at poker. which would be fine, but when he's actually trying to explain a situation, he probably ought to know enough by now to get it close to right sometimes. if he was halfway decent at understanding poker he could be a great commentator

Re: Norman Chad: Why?
I had a Norman Chad sighting at around midnight once at the Bike. I had to do a double take as he was walking out and had to confirm w/ one of the floorpersons that it was indeed him. He looked a little drunk and had a disheveled look. Totally out of it and yet cool as can be. I just wanted to say I saw him even though it has nothing to do w/ OP's point.
P.S. I enjoy his commentary. Id love to see Gabe and Norman commentate on a show. The dynamics would be great. |
Re: Norman Chad: Why?
I like him but like Gabe Kaplan a little more
|
Re: Norman Chad: Why?
norm is the man what come on who cant loves this dude
|
Re: Norman Chad: Why?
norman chad is the nuts, when I watch wsop, esp the ME, i like to be entertained, I don't give a **** if he doesn't talk/ or know strategy, wouldn't change him for anyone.
|
Re: Norman Chad: Why?
Because he's entertaining and is not bashful about pointing out when someone is acting like a douchebag.
