Re: No hole cards at WSOP

When millions are at stake? I wouldn't fault anyone for thinking about stuff like that for that period of time.

Remember they are doing US, the viewers, a favour by televising it like this. They don't owe us anything.

EPT obviously isn't regulated by the Nevada Gaming Commission. The reason they can't show the hole cards as the hand goes on is that even when it's on delay, the commentary is live so the cards would be exposed to the commentators and it's illegal by Las Vegas gaming laws that hole cards are exposed to anyone during play.

Well ESPN must do something to readjust for the time delay. The Pius Heinz/Eoghan O'Dea hand took like 12 minutes, and it wasn't like for the rest of the feed, we were only a "3 minute delay"...

I guess that makes sense, but easy adjustment.. just do the commentary on a delay too..

How do players at the final table see cards from the broadcast? Do they have to go to their friends in the audience or does the wsop provide transcripts? All they said during the broadcast was that the players have equal access to the hands.

they don't lose time, if it takes 12 minutes for the hand, it takes 12 minutes on tv, they'll be on a 15 minute delay the entire time. When the hand started there was a 15 minute delay, 12 minutes later there's still a 15 minute delay

you could see "fans" watching their cell phones, so i'm sure they have the ability to watch, or have someone watching in the hotel that is texting their guys in the crowd the info

This ^

How is it not worth watching? The Thomas \ Gee hand was epic.
You also have Antonio giving great insight into how he thinks about a hand.

Re: No hole cards at WSOP

Man do we really live in an infantile society now where people need to have their hand held and be walked through everything?

What's next, people won't watch baseball unless the tv producers tell them what pitch is coming?

No more football until we see "run" or "pass" flashed across the screen before the snap?

Re: No hole cards at WSOP

If you don't like to watch it without hole cards, then you're probably not a good player. If you don't like watching it without hole cards, you obviously don't like paying attention to hands at the table you aren't involved in, so you likely miss out on a ton of information.

imo it's really fun to watch a hand play out and try to figure out what these guys have.

Re: No hole cards at WSOP

When the telecast began I was kind of bummed when I realized that they would not be showing hole cards until the hand was over. But the more I watched, the more I enjoyed trying to put the players on hands.

hah the stream remains 15 minutes behind continuously. It doesn't catch up to real time as they are playing each hand.

lol @ "what if a hand takes longer than 15 minutes?" Wow, that's pretty bad.
