Hand starts about 1:20 in. Has there been any discussion of this?

Matusow reminds me so much of myself at the table when he is bet into, just a big fat pussy. He is so over concerned with his image and looks like he is playing scared money.

Matusows river bet was blocky like "i dont have an Ace high flush", Ivey knows this. Game over.

Re: Million Dollar Cashgame: Ivey bluffs Matusow of K-high flush

mike is from the old school. he wouldnt bet big with the nut flush here too.

I think matusow folded because ivey represented almost nothing and he thought he wouldnt play this line as a bluff. Because it looked so ridicioulus bluffy and any idiot like a 2+2-cent-grinding-jerk would snapp it off.

Matusow just got unlucky with situations like this in this Show. remember he called down durrrr with ace-high in a 3-bet pot, which i thought was reasonable. Again durrrr repped almost nothing, but happened to have something this time.

He made another bad fold against hellmuth with JJ, but he called his 3-bet 'light' befor, so i think it was possible hellmuth was done with 3-betting light this session.

You see its not that clear as it looks.

Matusow had position, thin (or not so) value, not blocking.

I agree with this. Then it's pretty clear, Matusow got completely outleveled by Ivey. Once that happens, you're really playing a ridiculous level over level over level game...that makes your decision incredibly hard.
His mistake was to put himself in a position to be outleveled in the first place.
Especially against ivey, that's just asking for trouble.
To be honest, I thought he was trapping Ivey when he made that ridiculous bet on the river, only to snap him off with the flush. Now that would've been a great play, exploiting his image to maximize his EV.
I don't think Mike should be playing at that table. It's fun for TV to see how truly great players take advantage of the fish at the table, but he has nowhere near the skill level required to be playing with any of these guys. Even Hellmuth, probably the second fish at the table, would pwn him HU cash. And he's obviously scared money...forget it.
I truly wonder who, in his deluded mind, he thinks he has an edge over in this game. Who knows, I'm sure he thinks he has an edge over Durrrr.

I don't get the hate. The board was paired, he has a bluff catcher only, once Ivey raises. He decided to fold. BFD.

Mike can only beat a bluff on the river, it's not too bad of a laydown although I would've called in his spot.

Mike was playing too high for his bankroll, he even complained about the steaks during the show.

But really Ivey almost never has a boat in that spot, he'd play the earlier streets faster if he did.

Re: Million Dollar Cashgame: Ivey bluffs Matusow of K-high flush

Didn't the MDCG segment, "Focus on Mike," show Matusow boasting about how one of his greatest abilities is being able to "read" his opponents? But he makes a goofy river call with A-high against Dwan. After which, perhaps thinking that he might soon lose his whole buy-in, he gets bluffed out of a $100K pot for a measly $37K raise (when Ivey sees him look back at his cards to see if he made a flush, Ivey then saw an opportunity to make a move). Then Mike reacts to a stuck-and-steaming-Hellmuth raise, tucking his pocket Jacks between his tail and running away pre-flop.

Scared money, indeed.

And this MDCG show was recorded after Mike admitted pulling a "Sorel Mizzi." During the show, when Matusow was giving Hellmuth grief for Phil's association with the scandalous UB poker site, maybe Hellmuth should have asked Mike what poker site was it that Mike took over another player's account (finishing 3rd) after that other player had gone deep in an online tournament.
