Re: Jerry Yang after WSOP?

^ Doyle sucked out post flop on at least one of those ten dueces. He had bottom pair and his opponent had top two pair on the flop when they went all in.

I think Lee Child's was a horrible player. Yang threw him off hands before the final table. And that QQ fold on a 742 (close enough) rainbow was just someone scared to get knocked out. He pushes with KJ but folds QQ go figure.

But him folding QQ like that (even though he barely had yang covered) was just plain dumb. That's like folding 53 with the 2nd nut straight

Re: Jerry Yang after WSOP?

"Jerry" Yang will host a series of no limit hold'em tournaments for mostly "locals" at Lake Elsinore Casino in Lake Elsinore, California on May 21-25.

Tachi Palace Casino in Lemoore, CA (tachipalace.net) has sponsored Jerry to play WSOP events 2 ($1500 no limit), 7 ($2000 no limit), and the Main Event. Tachi was also Jerry's sponsor for the 2008 WPT Championship.

Corum Swiss Time Pieces has also agreed to sponsor Jerry for the 2008 WSOP Main Event.

Jerry will have a 3rd sponsor for the 2008 WSOP Main Event.

Thanks "Oliver".

Seriously, I do not understand this. At what point do you have enough money such that you do not have to sell your name ? Sponsorship for a $1500 event after winning $8 million ? Does the guy have no self-respect ?

For the record: Tachi Palace officials approached Jerry, not the other way around.

Tachi sponsored Jerry for 4 tournaments (WPT Championship, WSOP Main Event, plus a $1500 and a $2000 WSOP event with the $1500 scheduled for ESPN coverage) with total buy-in of $39,000.

The likes of Tiger Woods and Maria Sharapova earns 8 figures in product endorsements each year (far more than the 7-figure deals that Hellmuth, Negreanu, and Hachem are commanding in the poker world) even though Tiger and Maria already have more money then they can ever spend.

Successful product endorsers are simply leveraging their time in front of TV cameras (and the millions of pairs of targeted eyeballs the TV cameras are able to deliver) on behalf of companies and products that want to associate themselves with the product endorsers.

It wasn't a rainbow flop. It was either 2 clubs or 2 spades, I can't remember which.

Which makes it a much worse fold.

So true - he is not only folding to top pair and smaller overpairs, but also to nothing but a flush draw.

Yang - JsJh
Childs - QsJh

Flop - 7c 4d 2c

From the preflop action 77, 44 and 22 are all very unlikely from Yang.
The only hands for Childs to be scared of would be AA or KK, against any other likely hand Childs is ahead.

But how many other hands can Yang hold, given his image at the time?

Re: Jerry Yang after WSOP?

That fold was god-awful. Childs is light-years ahead of Yang's range there, he over-thought the situation. I mean he made a good call when he got knocked out (j-k against j-8 I believe), but man that was one of the worst plays I've seen at a ME FT.

Re: Jerry Yang after WSOP?

What's with all the Yang criticism?

Obviously he played bad to all mortals eyes, but Jesus told him what to do like to "bluff" with JJvQQ, and to suckout with J8vJK.

The way you keep money is by letting other people spend theirs on you. Yang knows that his chances of going deep ITM at these tourneys are slim so why spend his own money?
