Just letting you guys know what Eastgate said on cardplayer...he said I bought into the game for way too much money and was playing with scared money. He just didn't wanna lose a $800K pot...so he folded.

I think it's because the pot would've been unlikely to get big enough to get Eastgate to fold 2,4.

Also tough spot for Dwan to lead out and rep a strong hand.

Barry's flop bet was just plain dumb.

well.. only pocket 10's or a deuce beats him.. but yeah was a little strange to come out betting with 7 players behind him

to OP, if Barry hadnt bet dwan couldnt raise, so if barry didnt bet dwan would have, and barry "could" have raised dwan, eastgate calling also make things more complicated...on the turn the pot was big enough for dwan to make a bet big enough to get barry and eastage out of the hand

Eastgate is too much of a nit to ship his stack with trips

Best cash hand I've ever seen.

And it's pretty obvious why he wouldn't have won the hand - eastgate is not folding to a Tom Dwan open on that board with trips. If Dwan opens there, Eastgate pops it big and calls a reshove (that would never happen). Greenstine mucks. The greenstine open allows Dwan to get credibility in Eastgate's eyes for trips, a hand eastgate is never better than with a 4 kicker.

Well Dwan could have checked and then raised after Eastgate bet and Barry flatcalled.

Eastgate is never raising T22r board with 42 when Dwan bets into 8 players.

That was a very very weird hand... I think Dwan got the perfect situation for his bluff to work. I guess you make some of your own luck when you are a good player, but that was still lucky in my opinion.

I don't think that the reraise he made in that spot was a great play. He was just being aggressive, thinking he probably had the best hand. I guess it's better than a call. At least he knows where he's at. It certainly a tough situation.
But he was lucky that Eastgate had the 4 and not one of the other player. Eastgate was the one who knew him the less, and I doubt any of the other players would have played it this way. Most of them would have reraised on the flop.

Then on the turn, he analyzed the situation perfectly and saw that Easgate was playing tight. He made a great bet, but I still don't see the reraise on the flop like a winning play.

it also helps the fact that he knows how much eastgate values 100k compared to the other guys! I think he's a bit more 'normal' than the other lot !

right after barry muched dwan pointed at eastgate and said: he had the best hand.

That only illustrates how his read on the situation was dead on.

the hand could've been played a million ways (for startes the limp with aces by barry), barry also said that dwan played pretty tight till that moment and that he gave up the hand once he saw everyone called.

I have to agree with the guy that said best televised NL cash hand ever. That read that dwan pulled is absolutely unreal.

to be honest I thought it was quite easy to tell eastgate had a 2 there if you think about it... dont know why DN said "duh" after someone else at the table said "barry had the best hand"... I mean, i dont know what apart form a deuce eastgate is calling with there after a bet and a raise WITH barry still to act behind him

So I just want to talk about the hand because Dwan played it amazingly. This has probably been discussed a lot but..

What was Eastgate thinking folding his deuces? What hand was Dwan trying to represent and why would Greenstein fold his Aces? I just don't understand how Eastgate and Greenstein was thinking.

Dwan is either bluff or having a hand that crushes both and both kinda figured Dwan would not bluff in a 7-way pot this way often enough for them to be profitable to continue with the hand.

My 2 cents:

BG c-bets near 100%, Dwan put in the raise with his T to win the pot right there or to set up a double/triple barrel (turning his hand equity into steal equity-a bluff) if called since gap concept dictates that an OOP check-caller should be ahead of the aggressor range. Dwan would not expect Eastgate or BG to float OOP vs his flop raise. OTT, Dwan follows through with his repped polarized range (nut range/air) making his opponents think that all they have are bluff catchers and forcing them to make a decision if they want to try to bluff catch a potential all-in triple barrel on the river. Dwan realized that a big turn bet would not get check-raised on that board as Eastgate would have already chosen to do so on the flop or BG would have reraised on the flop. Dwan raised the flop knowing that if he wasn't put to the test on the flop that a large turn bet would win a high % of the time as they wouldn't continue without A2+ which is hard for them to have by the way that they played it.
