Re: All in - The Poker Movie

It's definitely too positive and Pollyannish. But that doesn't make it bad-- that was the kind of movie that they wanted to make. And there's a lot of positive things to say about poker and the poker boom and an interesting story to tell.

If someone wants to do "The Dark Side of Poker", there's plenty of material there as well, and not just the obvious stuff mentioned here like what happened to AP/UB and Full Tilt. (How many poker players have had tax problems, been broke, gotten involved with drugs, ruined their marriages, etc.? How much cheating and angle shooting goes on? How many bots and colluders have plied their trades online? What was the real legal status of online poker pre-BF? How much underage play went on online?) That could make for a good movie too, even though it might not be popular, for understandable reasons, here at 2+2.

But that wasn't the movie these people set out to make. On its own terms, this film is a success.

No, I watch my movies the old fashioned way, TV.

That reminds me of the line in All In where James McManus says a reason for the boom is two words, T.V. Actually James, that's not two words.

But what about the young kids that weren't around to catch those on the tube, they need to be caught up on the net!

Re: All in - The Poker Movie

Just finished watching this,i would recommend it,especially if your new to poker. There's plenty there though for people who are familialr with the game and its history

Intresting to see the orgins of the game and interviews with the people who
were responsible for making poker as big as it is,most notably steve lipscombe who started the world poker tour and Henry Orenstein who introduced hole card cams

Would of like to hear more on Black Friday, and maybe interviews with some of the founders of the some of the big poker networks pre/post black friday

The film was badly edited. It starts of with the origins of poker upto black friday then it focuses on chris moneymaker winning the world series, which was on briefly touched on earlier on in the film
