I taped the 7pm show, am watching it now, and they start with day four? Did I miss the earlier days or did they really skip the first three days?

You didn't miss anything. For the last few years ESPN has decided to not film the first few days and start coverage later.

Sure, but to miss out on the bubble bursting seems like a crazy move from ESPN.
Surely that's one of the most exciting moments of the coverage and has plenty of scope for stories.

I'm really disappointed with the decision. It won't stop me watching, but it's disappointing.

Just watched episode 1... that dude calling off with TT wow. Hellmuth as ever continues to confuse me with most of his plays.

If i mouthed off like that in my local casino Borgata in AC, trying to goad the guy into folding his pock 8's like Helmuth did, i would have been scolded or penalized. That ass loves to be the center of attention. Did if for the cameras. I could never pull off a bluff like that because my name is not Poker brat

I know November is still ways away, but does it seem like ESPN isn't really advertising/promoting WSOP like in years past. I always remember seeing commercials every 10 minutes during sportscenter or baseball tonight. TBH i forgot episode 1 and 2 coverage was even on last night.

They actually tried to sell it with a short segment at the beginning where clips of a couple players were shown (probably out of context) saying some silliness like Day 4 of the main event is when it 'gets real'. That was an eye-roller.

LOL even Joseph Mckeehen was shocked at such a terrible call.

Phil Hellmuth is a sick man. "I think you got 8s or Ts" Then bets almost all of his stack haha.

Then buys everyone ice cream. Like a boss!

Also epic lulz at "First Timer" Fedor Holz. WCOOP Main Event winner with already a $1 mill+ score.

Rofl at Hellmuth saying Daniel's 3b/call with AKs there was bad and "Daniel felt the need to gamble because I'm so good." Phil has to be trolling at this stage?

He was not trolling , he believes it's true . Hellmuth would get so much more respect if he ever showed an ounce of humility , but he is not interested in respect , he craves attention and he got plenty of it in last nights show.

His calling his opponents hand then shoving was masterful , but I would have loved to see the guy call just to watch the smugness wiped from Hellmuth's face .

When the first thing that comes to mind after watching episodes one and two is how much Ness Reilly needed a sandwich, that's not a good sign about the quality of coverage.

Starting at day 4 is as bad as we feared it would be.

Normally my feeling is we don't see enough hands to get a feel for why some players like Hellmuth do what they do on a specific hand...

That being said, regardless of why happened in that hand or at that table, how on earth does he call off his tournament with TT on that board??

There was a straight and a flush possible, right? 2 or 3 overs?

I thought the episodes delivered. Hellmuth and Negreanu action pretty good. "side game olympics" or whatever that crap is needs to go.

No you most certainly wouldn't have. I've played at the Borgata many times and they allow verbal banter between the players in the hands just like every other casino in the world. Might wanna go check out that rule book next time you're there.

Can someone explain what Negreanu was talking about with the 3-betting thing?

I think he was saying that he 3 bet b/c Helmuth already had one caller and he didn't want to play AK vs. two players. Whereas, if there was no caller he would have just called Helmuth's raise and saw the flop heads up. Of course, I could be very wrong.

In his exit interview Hellmuth criticizes Negreanu's 3bet/call with AKs because he (Hellmuth) is apparently only shoving in that spot (~37bb) with AK/QQ+. From that you'd think he's a super nit. But he also 3bet an UTG raise from the BB with 87s, 3bet 76o and followed through on turn/river, and check-raised AA4 with J3. I'm confused lol

1st post here, so hello all!
He didn't say he's not getting out of line occasionally, he just meant in certain spots he's only '4-bet' jamming QQ+/AK, which meant that most of the time Negreanu's call would have been bad and he's only flipping at best in that spot.
