Yes rake reasonable(well not really, but reasonable enough that you can easily win if you are good enough), yes worth to invest time.
Tools, just a database with HUD like hem2 or pt4 while playing.
Study with database, icm calculator, an equity calculator and a coach if you have one.
How to use it, you need to do the research.

Once you crush turbo's, start switching to hypers at the micro's, because hourly will be much higher.

Traffic is fine on main site... Recently been playing stars.fr and that is awful... 30 min wait for a 9max!!

A few years ago i earned some part-time money playing sng normal speed. I played $10 sng 9p for an hourly rate at like $15-$20 hour.(playing 4-6 tables)

I started looking again, but i have the feeling sng's are dead nowaday's and no real money cant be made there anymore.
When i played i also noticed that your edge over others si much smaller with turbo's and even more smaller with hyper's.

Can you make an decent ourly at the micro's ? I cant see how at this moment. 'Please correct me if i'm wrong.

No, you can beat sngs reliably. I mostly play £3.50/£7 on stars and my hourly is about £3.70 an hour playing sets of 9 tables turbo. The question is to you want to play for a living? That, I have no interest in! I enjoy playing poker, and having a hobby that gives a return is even nicer. Someone recently said about hearthstone that they spent 10k on cards and that works about £5 hour for their entertainment. I get paid and I'm happy with that. As you say, things have changed and if you want a good hourly rate you will need to put the same time in off the tables to maintain your level. Know what you want out of the game, and accept that if its work... Then be prepared to really WORK!
