You're ahead of K Q . That's about it. You're chopping with another AQ. I feel like if you check, you are unlikely to end up folding the best hand if you have it. He takes the free card when you're ahead or chopping. He bets or checks when you're behind.

Re: STTF SNG -> Cash Thread #2
Cake,
You aren't ahead of anything in AQ hand 1 that Bets turn often. KK, QQ float as does AT (and sometimes shoves). You can't get good value from betting, so check. You aren't ahead enough to fold if he shoves, so fold.
Hand 2: I would tend to fold flop and if I called, fold turn.

Re: STTF SNG -> Cash Thread #2
The K9s hand that everyone thinks is a terrible river call - It's not a bad call against a lot of people - if his flop/turn/river aggression stats are either increasing by street or high-low-high or something weird and his won $ at showdown isn't very good, I'd call. You are getting 3 to 1.
A more specific read not based on stats would take precedence if I had one.
Normally folding is fine because there are so many believable hands that beat you.
AT, 9T, KJ, KQ
I think the turn is pretty close either way. The K hit the draw on the board that you are worried about. It's nice to build a pot against a lot of possible hands, but a fair amount of flush draws will have the Ace, and a fair amount of the time a strong made hand that will pay if you hit would have led the turn fearing a free shot at a spade for the hero.
You can probably get more value from some worse hand, but it will be hard to get 2 streets and on the river a much wider range of hands will look you up. Villain will also be likely to bluff a fairly wide range on the river as well and possibly value bet worse hands.
Maybe I'm just being a devil's advocate though.

Re: STTF SNG -> Cash Thread #2
micro- its def not a terrible call, but i still think its a fold, ppl just arent as aggressive as everyone wants to think they are. even if this guy happens to be, its a horrible river for him to bluff in general

that's some sort of ridiculousness
after his flop c/r, since you've never seen him c/r before, i would put him on flushes and sets. his shove looks like a weak flush. unfort you can do anything about that so i would fold to his turn shove. if i were better i could come up with a reason to fold the flop too, but i never do so i can't.
i guess theres a chance that he has 1 diamond and temporarily lost his mind, but i dont know

Re: STTF SNG -> Cash Thread #2
Karp in that 99 hand I probably check back the flop and see what the turn brings I would imagine you could bet/call profitbaly though
Bet the turn with K9s and fold river. You get c/red pretty rarely there and can get a ton of value and build the pot when you hit the river.
KK hand is standard bet more on the river.
Dipstikdave pretty easy fold with KK eventhough he can only really have 77 and qjs he is never bluffing
Slim three bet the flop shoving is fine small threebetting is fine you don't want a bunch of turn cards that let him fold A8 to peel off.
Karp Call with QQ and hope to win a race against AK if villians are thinking it is a really easy fold.
Bengie c/f turn. River depends on card.
I think I get it in with AQ there he can have stuff like AJ/AT untill proven otherwise.
Karp this is never a bluff but he can do it with stupid stuff like 88 I would call c/f river.
I never know how to play against donks, but it seems like he has something like 54hh or j9hh and nobody ever fold those. I would fold turn.
Slim fold turn he has a set or a crappy flush and doesn't want to see a diamond on the river.

Re: STTF SNG -> Cash Thread #2
Dr. J,
I probably bet more on the flop and turn as played standard.
Jmill,
That turn raise is really gross.
