Managed to register for the correct tourney this morning (not the $10k 6-max event held today) and am playing Day 1A on Saturday.

Haven't played live poker outside a home game in 10 months, so I think I'm gonna go watch some paint dry to prepare .

fairly pleased with the result of the one-drop tournament. was really pulling for galfond to win it, but I'm still pretty happy with who won.

I'm watching the stream now (replay, obv), but this is the first time im a long time I've been excited to watch poker on TV... I have a feeling this may have positive echos in the poker economy.

+1 and I think/wish ESPN, and of course the PPA, would do more to promote the amount of $$ donated to charity. Not sure of the exact figure, but I heard around $5 mil from the tourney itself, and several of the players donated all their winnings to charity as well. And what is the typical amount of taxes payed on an $18.2 mil score?? Probably close to $8-9 million? But it's such an awful game...zomg ban it!

It's being re-broadcast on July 8th on ESPN if you want to wait that long. Or I think you can watch it on ESPN now if you have the right cable package....be careful of spoilers though if you don't already know the result.

doublez, good point. i think they did an OK job of bringing up the charity aspect of it. From what I understand they raised $5.5mm for One Drop - and a few players, including the guy who got 3rd, donated all winnings to the charity.
