Re: ****Official Beginner/Basic Question Thread****

Is there a way in HEM to filter to find out what % of time that you go to HU you have the chip lead?

Re: ****Official Beginner/Basic Question Thread****

is there any stat in HEM that shows villain fold BB to AI from SB in %? or is this stat similar to 'fold to steal'?

Re: ****Official Beginner/Basic Question Thread****

Just completed my first 1k games in 18m turbo, $7 buyin. I won a few buyins but three times was up over $250 and went back to zero... I had 3 downswings of ~40BI over what is regarded as quite a small sample... Are these swings standard because I'm not sure I am ready for the frustration?!!

Yes, they are "standard". I don't play these but I looked up a player that played 10k $6 18 mans with a 11% ROI. Their worst downswing was over 100 buy ins and a 1700 game break even stretch. If you're confident you can beat these games, all you can do is play through it. If you can't handle these types of swings maybe you should consider playing a lower variance game.

Re: ****Official Beginner/Basic Question Thread****

I've been a slighly winning player on the micro and low stake 6max hypers, but am getting a bit tired of the super low roi/variance/swings and have seen a lot of posts regarding 18/45/180s. Is it a good move to switch games? What's a quick way to get into them?

Does ICM still apply in DoNs? Wouldn't it at least have to be tweaked since coming in 5th has the same prize as coming in 1st?

Yes, of course. Since you can only win double your buy-in the risk of busting is much greater than the reward for doubling up. So, ICM is much more important in DoNs than in a normal STT.

Re: ****Official Beginner/Basic Question Thread****

I wouldn't say it's more important in DoNs, though at the same time I say I follow it more rigidly and deviate less in dons.

Harlem it never has been and probably never will be. Pro Tip: Looking at EV line is a waste of your time. Common examples of EV line useage, look at it while running bad omg blahblah I should be up XXX or, someone needing it as some sort of confirmation that they're playing ok while on a downswing. Just focus on playing good pokah

hand of an 18man, should we shove this wide or can we afford to take the blinds another time?

This is your only chance to shove before the BB hits you and you lose your FE. So you should be very happy to see A2s here. I'm shoving something like this, but maybe too tight. A2+,22+,K2s+,Q8s+,J8s+,T7s+,65s+. Of course, you might want to adjust your range depending on how loose the table is.

Re: ****Official Beginner/Basic Question Thread****

Wizard is dumb for these spots, er icm is use chipev mode. Don't just look at wiz results THINK about the hand. What reasons do you have not to shove here? Folding should seem wrong to you on every level.

Look at this in chipev mode, you're making a ****in pile o chips by shoving here When you've got 4bb, not near money, and our about to be blinded any marginally +chipev shove is good and this is golden
