(My) Mindset towards SNG's and more. (My) Mindset towards SNG's and more.

I mostly play $100nl 6-max at Bovada but enjoy the occasional SNG when I'm running bad/playing bad/otherwise bored.

When I play SNG's, I play the $10.50 or $21 6-max turbo DoN's and sometimes the $14 Triple-Up turbos. I actually enjoy the strategy part of DoN's much more than I enjoy cash/MTT's. The idea of survival is just really fun to me.

I've noticed that once the blinds get large, players make huge mistakes (seems intuitive). So my strategy atm is to play super tight until around the 50/100 level and then open up while taking advantage of my tight image (if that even matters at these levels).

I'd say that this is my range UTG until the 50/100 level:
77+,AJs+,KQs,AJo+,KQo

Is that a good range?

Some things come up with which I'm still uncomfortable and don't understand. Such as hands like Q8s, K5s otb with 1300 at 50/100 blinds and two stacks that cover me with 5 people remaining. I've just been mucking them because I think my edge when it gets to push/fold is better than the competitions so are those standard folds?

One part of my mindset that I'm trying to change, that I find difficult coming from cash, is winning hands. Winning hands doesn't really matter. Survival and chip preservation matters. Last night I found myself having already doubled up, I raised UTG (5-handed) w/AdQx and bet against 2 people on 4d5d4x where I'm almost sure that this is a c/f with my stack because I'll find better spots and I'm going to cash here a huge % of the time w/o too much risk.

I'm really curious on other people's mindset and general strategy towards SNG's.

This ended up as a ramble as I thought my original topic would be too short and uninteresting to post by itself so thanks for reading if you made it this far!!!

to general of questions. your ranges are going to change based on stack depth, others stack depths, format, structure, opponents ranges vs you, opponents ranges vs one another, players left/bubble factor, so many other variables.

if you are questioning your push/fold ranges, the best way to improve those is to run icm calculations around the clock. yes, the flatter the structure the more important preservation is and vice versa.

gl out there. sngs are pretty fun
