What are peoples thoughts on opening sizes with less than 20bigs in micro SnG's?

Mainly 9-max turbos - I used to open everything 2.3x, but recently when I'm below 20 bigs I've been min-opening in UTG-HJ, and then 2.3x in CO, BTN and SB.

Seems to be working fairly well as I'm able to play most postflop poker with marginal hands vs fish with a <20bb stack

anyone spent any time looking into benefits etc?

Its all about fold equity you get against the specific opponent.

If you find that the small and big blind fold nearly the same frequency to a 2BB as a 2.3BB raise then its is profitable to reduce it 2 BB and limit your exposure with the same fold equity. However, if they call every time to a min raise but fold to a 2.3 BB raise then i would stay with a 2.3 BB bet so that you have some fold equity.

I found both types of players (Those who call every min raise from the BB and those who fold a percentage of the time) in my games so its player dependent

Honestly think it doesn't matter much if u 2x or "2.x x", it's more important to have an idea what range u are calling / 4b jamming a 3b / non ai 3b with against a specific opponent and the population.
