Okay so here's the situation. I show up at the bar, sign in, sit down, get my starting chips, everyone else sits down, get's their chips... but wait. My stack is 6k and the guy on my right has 30k and the guy on my left has 20k... Oh they ordered food, and bought a gift card so they could get extra chips. Now I'm short stacked at 6k with the blinds at 25-50 and they go up every 10minutes. This means that even if I win a couple of good pots, or if I play aggressive and happen to take down a good amount of them, I'm only at about 10-15k by the time the blinds hit 500-1000.... and I'm sitting on 10-15bb and it seems that the avg stack is around 30k-40k. What do I need to do to get better? Maybe practicing short stack strategies? No I don't usually eat at the bars... I'm not trying to spend my money at these free rollers. I'm there to play poker and win, not spend my money to get a distinct advantage. I'm very competitive and just so aggravated with these guys with quad my stack calling me with garbage and sucking out all the time. How do I crush them?????

Damn dude. Looks like that bar has hired some Amaya employees, just printing money getting people to buy play chips.

Anyways, if you're going to continue playing at this bar and you're not going to buy gift cards (lol) then accept that you are going to be shortstacked.

Again, if you're not going to buy gift cards, then yes, you'd better start practicing some short stack strategies. There are a lot of online resources to develop basic proficiency at shoving and calling.

If these guys are calling off with garbage as you say, then just continue to play a solid tight strategy and look to avoid bluffing off your stack. Stay tight and expect to get it in good a lot.

Also sounds like you should order at least 1 beer. GL man.
