6 handed, 7 places paid (places relatively docile). I had the second largest stack with around 27 bigs. One 6bb guy

UTG (35bb opens)
folds round
Hero SB 3 bets with AKo
BB folds
UTG calls.

FLop is KTx 2 hearts

i c bet 1/3,

UTG raises just above min

Hero? Is this a snap jam or did i play this wrong based on the short stack?

What does ‘places relatively docile’ mean? Does that mean payout structure is flat?

AK is too strong to play passively imo. You could make a case for just calling w AQ, but with 7 left and the 2nd biggest stack, I’m reraising w AK pf. Now that he raised your cbet I’d just GII.

yeah basically, was meant to be only 6 paid but they took a little off the top 2 to make it 7, so yeah.

Thanks for the advice, snapped off by KT...busted in 6th

honestly I think you can just jam pre because I don't really like anything else. It might seem crazy with 27bb but being the chip leader, utg is likely opening a fairly wide range, the good majority of which will then have to fold to your jam. IF you get called, you are flipping a lot with only a very small % of the time being dominated.

If you 3bet, utg can just jam on you and put lots of ICM pressure on you. calling off here with ace hi would be a very tough icm situation, I want to avoid this.

If you 3bet and get called, utg can still just put insane ICM pressure on you postflop as evidenced by the way this hand played out. you flop tptk and get minraised and you don't know what to do. as played I am probably getting this in here but I'm not happy about it at all and I think we can avoid this spot by jamming pre. I would also have opted for a x/call line in your shoes otf.

folding pre is out of the question with a hand this strong. and by jamming pre, all the icm pressure he was applying to you in the 3bet scenarios you can now apply to him. therefore, I think jamming pre is best.

Interesting way of thinking about. I suppose i never considered that as a possibility, but yeah when you explain it the way you do you are kinda right. I dont know about X/call, because we arent gonna be cbetting enough, and on a K high board, thats just gonna seem stupidly weird. Obvs not folding pre, i suppose i just thought say he does stick it in with pocket 10s pre... then we're flipping in a massive scenario, which just doesnt feel right stack sizes and payout sizes considered. Also tbf there were some pretty short stacks at the table, so i dont know whether he would necessarily be opening as wide as you suggest. I do kinda agree with you though
