Finalization of the UIGEA rules will add additional burdens on our already crippled financial systems.

Internet poker is a game of skill and form of recreation for millions of Americans; it should be exempted from the UIGEA.

Please do not finalize the UIGEA regulations until their impact on our banking systems and average Americans has been fully studied.

Isn't the introduction of the stipulation for games of skill still active/a factor in this? This action taken my Barney Frank wasn't done all that long ago, even with the rules being finalized for UIGEA shouldn't we still 'have a shot'?

Where did he lie? Are you saying A) The finalization of the UIGEA rules will not add additional burdens on our financial institutions or B) Our financial system is crippled?

If B, then it's pretty irrelevant and it's just a talking point. If A, then you need to review statements made by the likes of the American Bankers Association, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and about a dozen other banks that state that this will add additional burdens onto banks. You can review these statements and comments here.

I don't want to hijack this thread any more...but do you actually believe the financial system in the US is crippled? That no money is flowing anywhere? That you're just minutes or trades or legislation away from Zimbabwean inflation rates and another depression? That Walmart is about to shut it's doors and McDonald's will have no more hamburgers?

I'm very comfortable pouring more money into the stock market despite potential job insecurity...working for a company that was recently de-listed from the exchange.

That all said...I'm behind anything that will open up the U.S. market to online poker. I fully agree with the sentiments.

this is not the place to argue for semantics; banks are all still afraid to loan and people are still hoarding their own money. If this doesn't qualify as "crippled" when also analyzing the trend of our nation's economy over recent years and months, than a serious reassigning of definitions in the dictionary is in order. Again, STOP arguing semantics here on how you define the term 'crippled', as any further posts derailing the significance of this thread will simply be deleted. Stay on track with the message being sent or simply post nothing further. This just isn't the place to argue your point, so please take it elsewhere.

Also, perhaps "threatened" would be a better word than "crippled" imo. I also added that the proposal would increase costs and/or reduce revenue for the American banking system as a whole.

I think so. I had to pick United States from a drop down menu when filling out my address and all the other countries where there to choose from.

Of course, we don't have much of a history of giving a rats ass what foreigners think so they might just toss your comments....
