So let's say my usual games are $5 sitngos and I have 80buyins for that level. I've taken shots twice before at the $10 level it went well and was up maybe 6 buyins or so but I would always lose those buyins a couple of days later then I would just move back down to the $5 because I didn't want keep losing . So how do I properly take shots should I set a certain amount of buyins aside and if so how many would be ideal? Let's say my roll is 450 I wouldn't really want to drop below $300 to be honest . So would about 15buyins be enough to take a shot? Also if it doesn't go well and I do drop down to 300 should I rebuild it to 450 again an keep taking shots that way ?

What you might do is for every $5 sng that you win (come in first), take some of your winnings and play a $10 sng. If you win or cash in that one, play another. If not, go back to the $5s. You won't play too many but that least you'll get a taste now and then and the variance shouldn't be too bad.

There is no specific point of time or amount of BI to set aside for "taking shots". If u suppose u beat them, u can play em, if u don't, u shouldn't.
