High Blind HU (~10BB effective stacks)

Hey guys,

I was playing this guy HU for a while, he seemed pretty aggressive, raising BU almost every time, and 3betting pretty liberally. I was getting pretty card dead near the end, and decided to make a stand with K9s after he 3bet me. I figured the blinds we're pretty high and if he's going to do this every time I'm going to get blinded out pretty quick. Here are some of the hands leading up to the final hand, turns out he had it. Was he just at the top of his range or is this a bad call? Also any advice for the hands leading up would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Your play is fine. I prob just shove the J2s. I don't like r/f this shallow, it makes villain's reshoves very profitable.

Sorry, I thought because it was a 9man sng that I would post here, but that makes more sense, I'll post there in the future.

Hi sorry, do you mean I should be shoving J2s or r/fing? Thanks for your input.

Shove more and raise less would probably be better but I'm not a star HU so whatever.

Are we not allowed to discuss HU here? Isnt it part of our SNG games?

Anyway OP, first of all he clearly didnt raise every button. But if he is rather aggressive you should just shove the K9 in the first place.

Re: High Blind HU (~10BB effective stacks)

you are allowed, but most people playing stts suck at hu and i see this every single day from 'solid' regs.
why not take advice from people who play it for living and standard plays up to 30bbs are 'solved' ?

Re: High Blind HU (~10BB effective stacks)

Well, first of all I rarely visit other parts than sttf on 2p2. Second I know the people here I know who knows what hes talking about. Third like you said we can all improve our HU game so why not do it here? Fourth when you reach HU in a regular SNG you have some idea about how villain played early/midgame/bubble/itm but you dont know how he will play HU, but if you play a HUSNG you have a pretty good idea about villains HU game once you reach high blinds.

+1 That being said, also posting in the HU forum for some other advices isn't bad imo.

Re: High Blind HU (~10BB effective stacks)

R/C or shove with K9s is both fine vs. a Reg with good aggressive stats. It is both +ev. If you want to r/f with some Hands i would raise it. If you shove your whole Range you should shove this of course too. The j2s raise is only good if you also have a limping Range. If you dont have a limping range then you raise/fold too much hands by raising J2s. Her is a Chart from a HUSng book:Its not perfect but it explains the thought process that you need in these situations:

Just shove the A9 and K9 imo. If you are feeling insecure about your play, just take the unexploitable path and push or fold everything.
