Would happily jam here. Even most nonregs realize that a call here would be bad. It's 8 handed and you're not a lock to cash. Unless the person to your right is also a nonreg and will walk you all day when the blinds get deep I could not see folding this.

What is wrong with opening 3x here? Not disagreeing, I'm just a newer player who doesn't know why. I'd probably be opening 3x here myself.

3x is just too big really, it's not terrible, but you're typically just better off pushing because you don't really want to 3x/fold in this kind of spot and 2.5x is going to get the same opponent's hands to fold as 3x while allowing you to open a wider range. It's not a horrible size it's just that all the good players have essentially realized it's not optimal so that's where he's getting the idea that our opponent is a bad player.
