Losing the hand is no disaster, getting ko'd is.
I think you have to be honest in this spot and say - we'd all like to believe we're making a strong manly call because we're not afraid - but a db review will show you villain isn't just jamming over you with junk here. You'll see some 2pr or other or baby flush pretty often.
Very often when we think our opponent is trying to move us off a hand - actually they're just trying to protect a strong but vulnerable hand themselves, which makes our 1p hand shrink considerably.
Yeah, I haaaate folding, but the board is wet enough to give yourself a reason to fold. There's a lot that falls in his range, plus dodging spades if he happens to have one is a ****ty, too.
We're happy to be playing him, though, so internally I give him props for a good shove and let it go.
Preflop, limping and openshove are options to consider. Limping gives SB more perceived fold equity and gives BB less incentive to shove on us. Shoving is +EV and stops the BB from owning us but should narrow SBs call range considerably, which isn't good for us. BB seems weak so Minraise seems ok.
Flop is a check, doesn't seem close to me. If we bet flop, we can't call if he CRAI, and we are creating some really difficult turn and river decisions if villain calls.
