Bubble (3 fish not following ICM + me). Do you throw ICM out the window? Bubble (3 fish not following ICM + me). Do you throw ICM out the window?

$1.50 SNG 9 players turbo.

As the chip leader:

Blinds 80/160

Me: 7500 chips
2nd: 2500
3rd: 2000
4th: 1500

Some exemples of hands on bubble:

I shoved with A6o on button (the SB was 4th guy) who calls with QTs and doubles up.

I shoved more wide on button next cycle w/ Q9o and got called from the big blind with A8o (2nd guy) and he doubles up

They were pretty much shoving themselves and not just raising (eliminating reshove stealing spots)

My question is:

With 3 fish on the bubble that doesnt understand ICM:

Do you fold endlessly and be super tight until someone spews theyre equity left and right with the other fish and get "free equity" my way.

OR instead

Do you fold all marginal hands and just shove with a range like
ATo+, A8s+, 77+ ?

Thanks for your time.

Jam less, 2x and/or limp more.

You have to tighten a bit for sure. Careful not to get too tight though, especially when shoving. A good sanity test is to plug the spots you're dealing with and assign the wild ranges possible and see what your strategy adjustment is. Then see what the strategy is vs less wild ranges that way you can calibrate your ranges depending on the type of opponent you face.

Generally at stakes this low play will be quite erratic and there will be a lot of times when that free equity is spewed your way, and when those situations are occuring it can be disastrous to get too aggressive with your ranges.

I have also run into spots where fish don't understand ICM pressure and have also wondered how i should better exploit players who call way too often when ICM is in play.

I have adjusted to a really small raise (2-2.2) when i have position and to more of a fold/shove when i am out of position when I am in big stack playing against calling fish. It has been working well.

Thank you murstyle15 very good post.

I've been watching a guy play 20 tables at once on 50 cents SNG turbo 9 players and then reloading 20 tables, I checked his profit over 20 games it was $5 clear probably in close to 1h-1h30 altogether for 20 tables to start playing & finish.

I've been analysing his 20 tables (the poker site gave me 2 days before it shut the tables and poker site loosing the saved tables replays)

He his playing how everyone as been suggesting in this post, he's able to make top 3 consistently but he did bomb it up a couple of times finishing 3rd by going way too wide all-in on the button final 3 (playing too much ICM at 50 cents game)

I haven't seen him spew much chips before final 3 but other then that he seems to be playing well.

I have watched also different ones at $1.50,$3.50 and $7 where they used:

2-2.5x raise: lower end of raising range and premium hands

all-in where appropriate: middle-top range hands

mixing it up so its not obvious.

Do not judge any results like a finishing distribution by a sample of 20. He could've been clicking rnd buttoms and achieved the very same result.

Also someone 20tabling 0.50$ SnGs is highly suspicious of botting, because everyone with a calculator and some common sense can confirm this behaviour does not make any sense for a human player. (Stressful job earning a fraction of minimum wage) Also it ruins the experience of recreational players at the micro stakes.
I'd report him to the site's investigation team.
