beat the clock beatable? beat the clock beatable?

Seems like a really fun format for a rec fish like me who wants an alternative to spins but 11% rake with 12bb starting stacks? Does anyone have a big sample on the $5 ones? Do they feel softer than say $7 spins?

Had a bit of a play through and I must say the format is quite fun. Sure you can figure out a way to beat them but edges are going to be low for sure with that rake % and 12.5bb start stacks. I would consider playing them more if rake was lowered to like 5-8%.

It's just push/fold probably. I don't think ICM even applies cause the payout is directly proportional to your stack. So vs regs the only edge would be who can exploit better.

Cannot see how on earth it would be beatable with that rake and structure. 5% rake might be worth trying [but likely not great either]. 10% is pure theft.

Pure cEV SNG on a timer, yes.

Payout is based on how many chips you end with so pretty much just ChipEV. It's like playing short-stacked cash but the blinds increase and it's zoom.

I dunno how they can charge uniform rake across the buy ins.

the format is interesting but lol rake (and the name sounds more like a promo than a format). i really wonder what % of amayastars awful decisions are pure greed vs just being clueless about poker.

Rake is crazy. Stars seems only to make the tournament duration shorter and the rake higher

They host:

$1
$5
$10
$25

and it's 10% straight rake. I think it's ridiculous to charge 10% given it's 5 friggin minutes, and you have tournaments lasting 5+ hours and they are 10%.

Personally I don't see a lot of fish long term playing these, simply because they don't directly see the money from them and it's hard to achieve a huge payout. Which is what Spins directly does for recreational players.

I don't think they are done hosting higher buy-in options, more players and higher time duration tournaments. I'm expecting anywhere from 10 minutes to 60 minute ones. As well as maybe 180+ players?

500 tourneys 12% roi so far. Played on $1 BTC. The rake is awful but a basic grasp of push fold is enough to solidly beat the $1 games

nope Im only just back playing poker this month have not reinvested in software yet (fish). Relying on Sharkscope atm. Dabbled in a couple of $5 and they are definitely tougher fields, the $1 games are relatively easy to get big cashes in through shoving the last 2 minutes against smaller stacks wanting to min cash.

The $1 are soft AF as fair as I know. It's also because of fish just randomly playing the $1's for the challenges to qualify for the arrin shootout's.

The $5's+ are definitly tougher, especially because of the huge rake(10%) in combination with stack depth and rapid blind level increases ...

Edit: I think it's possible to get a positive ROI in the long run if you get your push/fold ranges correct and are able to exploit the weaker regs in combination with good rakeback (platstar+). Variance will be huge for sure.

Little offtopic: PokerStars, even thought 12% rakeback for ChromeStar is nice in your new 2016, you killed poker by having massive rake in these new formats. Literally the rake in hyper MTTSNGs and in new formats in general is just unbelievable, how can you still say you protect new players? You attack them, gather all their money and give it to Neymar.

Bring back 1k freerolls, reduce rake at least to the same level as 888Poker and the this madness can stop!
