Re: 6 max ST 1st level open shove?

Hourly is definitely king, but you can't just jump head first into 20 tabling. If he's asking questions like this then he definitely needs to be working on his ROI. I have mad respect for what the 20 tablers can pull off, but it's like one of the hardest things to learn how to do and if he's going to get to that level I was just suggesting that he get good at 6 tables first.

hourly is the only reliable stat we have to compare players, so yeah

making more money in general = not so much, plenty of players putting in 200h months with low hourly, and imo relatively they are worse than someone with bigger hourly playing 60h a month.

*MTTs are exception, where even complete idiot can win 200k in one day and have his hourly set for life

New plan:

1. Win Sunday Million first try
2. Quit poker
3. troll 2p2 and brag about 50k hourly in every thread

Top notch advice ITT. Keep it up guys!

Edit: Higher hourly does not make a better poker player. It does however make a better poker professional.

In most senses, those aren't different things.

Okay, I know that you can say well, Jerry Yang is not a great poker player. But he took maney. I'd take luckboxing a WSOP ME win over grinding lowstakes poker any day.

I will usually open shove with AJ and A10 suited from any position. Facing an all-in I will call a button shove in the blinds but otherwise I usually wait for a better spot with these hands. I think A9 or worse are poisonous hands and If I can find any reason to fold I will. And yes these are 6-max so I understand I need to loosen up my all-in/calling range but I would much rather be shoving k10, kj, kq type hands than Ace rag hands and get in with a 60/40 or coin flip instead of Ace rag vs. better Aces. I find myself dominated so often when I start going nuts with Ace rag and I was just curious to hear everyone's thoughts.

I am usually multi-tabling 6-12 games.

It's not just the hourly that matters either though: there's not much point in increasing your hourly by a few percent if by straying from binary decision single street poker it requires way more decision making effort and you can only play for a couple of hours a day before you feel burnt out...

Re: 6 max ST 1st level open shove?

hope the guy who said 98 suited isnt serious.

A1phadog is solid player but hes trolling here, his suggested range is wide. aj off is at the bottom of our range

65/35 structure makes it even closer, barely shove

Re: 6 max ST 1st level open shove?

Put these into a nash Calculator.

As UTG:
playing solely p/f, shoving AJo is +.212% equity
If instead, play AJo as minraise/(call/fold depending on position of the 3bet), it's +.257% equity

Images:
p/f

r/(c/f)
