I have just started to play the STT on stars. I dont know how I should be playing AK when the blinds are still low. Should i be 3beting/4betting? Should I be happy to get it in preflop? Here is a couple of examples:
Villain is 21/21 over 23 hands. 4bet? Raise on the flop?
With AK it is good to keep worse Ax and Kx in your opponent's ranges pre-flop. Which is an argument against 3-betting in the early stages. But this all depends on how your opponents react to 3-bets. If they are calling 3-bets wide, 3-betting is great for value. If they fold every hand worse than yours, you are missing out.
Definitely not folding hand 1 but hand 2 is precisely how I'd play AA-QQ in second villain's spot and he looks like he has a clue from his stats, so prob not calling that.
Hand 1, when you call his 3 bet preflop, what flop were you hoping for ? You've hit your TPTK, but you fold. If you put villain on QQ+, then you should be folding preflop.
Hand 1, when you check to him on the flop, he's going to cbet with 100% of his range so you have to peel one and reevaluate the turn.
Hand 2 - yeah I fold preflop to his overshove and keep an eye on villain

I agree. I think I made an error on the flop. Should have called.
in hand 1, ill just call down villain on non-diamond turn and river cards. may fold the river if they bet after the 4 flush isnt there...really dependent on dynamic with villain.
in hand 2, villain assuredly has JJ+, AK so your either flipping, crushed or have the same hand.. good fold.
