3.5 turbos AK early

I have just started to play the STT on stars. I dont know how I should be playing AK when the blinds are still low. Should i be 3beting/4betting? Should I be happy to get it in preflop? Here is a couple of examples:

Villain is 21/21 over 23 hands. 4bet? Raise on the flop?

    Poker Stars, $3.16 Buy-in (10/20 blinds) No Limit Hold'em Tournament, 9 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite. View Hand #13537122

    BTN: 1,500 (75 bb)
    SB: 1,500 (75 bb)
    BB: 1,500 (75 bb)
    UTG+1: 1,500 (75 bb)
    UTG+2: 1,500 (75 bb)
    MP1: 1,500 (75 bb)
    Hero (MP2): 1,500 (75 bb)
    MP3: 1,500 (75 bb)
    CO: 1,500 (75 bb)

    Preflop: Hero is MP2 with A K
3 folds, Hero raises to 60, 2 folds, BTN raises to 100, 2 folds, Hero calls 40

    Flop: (230) Q 4 K (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets 138, Hero folds

In this one the UTG+1 is 17/11 over 166 hands and MP3 is 16/15 over 75 hands. Should I have 4bet? And if I do 3bet do I call a shove?

      Poker Stars, $3.16 Buy-in (25/50 blinds) No Limit Hold'em Tournament, 9 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite. View Hand #13537172

      UTG+2: 1,535 (30.7 bb)
      MP1: 1,305 (26.1 bb)
      Hero (MP2): 1,425 (28.5 bb)
      MP3: 1,530 (30.6 bb)
      CO: 1,335 (26.7 bb)
      BTN: 1,500 (30 bb)
      SB: 1,700 (34 bb)
      BB: 1,565 (31.3 bb)
      UTG+1: 1,605 (32.1 bb)

      Preflop: Hero is MP2 with K A
      UTG+1 raises to 125, 2 folds, Hero calls 125, MP3 raises to 1,530 and is all-in, 6 folds

I love the way you played both.

      Overall, I'd remember this...
Don't over play AK early in a sng. Don't go broke with it pf.

hope this helps you retain the info

With AK it is good to keep worse Ax and Kx in your opponent's ranges pre-flop. Which is an argument against 3-betting in the early stages. But this all depends on how your opponents react to 3-bets. If they are calling 3-bets wide, 3-betting is great for value. If they fold every hand worse than yours, you are missing out.

I'm not sure about folding top pair in hand 1, seems a bit nitty.

Hand 2 i play like you.

Mostly agree with what Glitlr said, don't overplay AK early!

Definitely not folding hand 1 but hand 2 is precisely how I'd play AA-QQ in second villain's spot and he looks like he has a clue from his stats, so prob not calling that.

Hand 1 I guess I shouldn't have fold on the flop to a 60% pot bet. Have TPTK after all.

So what kinda range do you think he is on here?

I think maybe AQ is the best we can hope for. Apart from that we are flipping or crushed.

Hand 1, when you call his 3 bet preflop, what flop were you hoping for ? You've hit your TPTK, but you fold. If you put villain on QQ+, then you should be folding preflop.

Hand 1, when you check to him on the flop, he's going to cbet with 100% of his range so you have to peel one and reevaluate the turn.

Hand 2 - yeah I fold preflop to his overshove and keep an eye on villain

I agree. I think I made an error on the flop. Should have called.

in hand 1, ill just call down villain on non-diamond turn and river cards. may fold the river if they bet after the 4 flush isnt there...really dependent on dynamic with villain.

in hand 2, villain assuredly has JJ+, AK so your either flipping, crushed or have the same hand.. good fold.
