Next time, I'm just going to buy the dough from a local pizza shop and bake that.

Suzzer: "That is my child". EPIC post.

Josem was interviewed on a UK TV show talking politics. Pretty awesome to see his beard branch out into new avenues...

Holla all!

For your collective bemusement, it's available online here: http://www.manx.net/tv/mt-tv/watch/7...-leave-website

But just to be clear, it's a local "online" video news service, rather than an actual broadcast TV channel.

Here's a video of my last "real" TV interview from the beginning of October last year...

Lacky my Dad has become convinced that the rise in c-sections is correlated with the rise in autism. (At least he doesn't buy the vaccine stuff) Thoughts?

My Dad worked with autistic kids a lot in the 70s and had some pretty profound experiences that he wrote about at the time in an unpublished book manuscript. Well 40 years later he has been given a contract to write a book about his experiences - by the guy who wrote this: https://www.amazon.com/Autism-God-Co.../dp/1402206496

I guess they started up an email conversation and my dad told him about the manuscript. The book will be my Dad's experiences, a lot of spiritual/mystical stuff about autism (my Dad calls it - more advanced consciousness), some of my Dad's poetry, and possibly this c-section theory.

I feel bad saying this, but I'm kind of hoping the editors reject the c-section stuff because I doubt it's true. There was one study but it seems to have not been corroborated by further studies.

Too cool that so many of us are still here after more than a decade!

OK we missed WSOP 2016, but maybe it's time for another Ultimate STT at WSOP 2017?

Love to see you if you can make it Micro, Gramps advice is definitely worth taking.

First, that pizza, why does it look like somebody lost their dentures in it?

I highly recommend Peru, and staying a little with Joss and family. Truly great hosts. Peru is the most interesting place I've been once you get out in the country (on the way to colca canyon). The city was interesting too, but less my thing. The flight was kinda pricey when I went, mostly because it was a two city trip rather than round trip. But even if the flight is pricy everything else should be really cheap, other than probably machu pichu. Anything world famous is probably expensive. The rest of Peru isn't though. If I had been single I would have stayed for a looooong time.

Suzz, I doubt it, as it would be a ridiculously easy correlation to check so it would have come out by now. You wouldn't even have to do any interviews, all it would take is searching a medical record database. All I know for sure is neither of mine were c section births.

Micro, my Peru trip report is probably still on here, might show that to the family, see if there is interest.

Fwiw my bet is on plastics and other chemical exposure for the autism, diabetes, obesity, etc.

I don't see what you mean, but there's a ball of mozarella on top, and a hole in the dough on the right.
06-23-2016 , 09:18 AM
Ahh, I see the hole now, before the hole and the darker goopy stuff around the hole looked just like white teeth in dentures.

I just looked the trip report up and the pictures no longer load. I could figure out something if you want them micro

Thanks. Might be cool, but not really necessary. I remember the pics of xPeru and family pretty well and pics of Peru in general are on the web.

I'm pretty sold on it being awesome. It's just weighing that against other things being awesome too.

My kids are both studying Chinese and there's also a decent chance I can do some business in China while there.

But again, at least a year away. This summer vacation will be a modest car trip and some camping.

Mine is disneyland for a week. I get to have all my kids in the same place for a week though. That should make it worth being in LA.

Holla if you have extra time. We are near the beach and about an hour from Disneyland.

Coming from a world-famous underwear model, that's some high praise...

Congrats on the vote Josem. Me thinks it's best in the long run for the UK. Love the beard BTW.

I thought the leave was widely seen as problematic and fueled by more social issues than anything else?
06-25-2016 , 01:25 PM
i vaguely remember josem sitting on a couch on a lawn at a university in australia interviewing people. he's got some experience.

What do you count as social issues?
I think it's largely about immigration. But, I don't think it's entirely correct to chalk that up to culture clash and racism. The right wingers in the UK were for leaving, but so were the UK communist and socialist parties for different reasons.

Not that I would be for leaving. I just think it's a little more complex than just social conflict.

Caveat: I paid no attention to this before like two days ago.

yeah, i was calling immigration a social issue in the sense that it seemed more about not wanting immigrants because of non-economics based arguments. but like you, ive only been following this for a week or so. ive just been diving into it since friday morning and reading about the economic implications of everything.

im also honestly asking, since there are people who know more than me itt, not asserting anything in my question

The age group variation is pretty interesting. 75% of people under 24 apparently voted to remain, while the 65+ crowd voted >60% to leave...

I love it when the olds who have almost nothing to lose or gain dictate the future of the youngs out of pathological propaganda-inspired fear.

(Not that I know **** about Brexit, just saying in general)
06-26-2016 , 01:45 AM
A good friend who works in international economics just explained to me why the brexit isn't great but also not nearly as bad as the American is making it out to be, so I'm on team josem again

Edit: basically it's not as bad as it seems, and less tied to any social/racial issues than cnn makes it out to seem
