Have gotten pretty used to uber. Back in Eugene for a few weeks and the city not allowing it seems absurd. Taxi company has an app that takes most of the best features from them, but still charges twice as much and isnt as good. I guess I shouldnt be that surprised when the state outlaws pumping your own guess to protect jobs. Lol government.

Gramps you use it much in TJ? Just found out that my normal taxi ride from Calafia to the border only costs half as much with half the waiting.

I do use it in TJ when drinking in groups (especially if rolling with 4-5 people via Uber XL). Uber X is literally cheaper than even the posted fares for taxis, I believe. Realize that a lot of drivers can get played after Uber, et. al. have been in a market for awhile, but it's so f-ing great as a consumer to have that competition against entrenched interests.

When I went to Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, an Uber to the game cost the equivalent of ~$12 (incl. cash tip). Took a normal cab back (from the post-game zoo madness) and it was $50+ via metered taxi (noticed towards the end he was zig-zagging me, but at best it would have been $35-40).

Now we just need Uber Eats here!

I loved Mexico City. I found the best tacos in the world. Also in La Condesa they had a a boulevard with lined over a mile of these crazy sculpture things:



Although the ones I saw were paper mache and temporary. I forget what these things are called but they're really cool.

Stayed in and loved La Condesa. Had an Airbnb in a great spot for like ~$60/night and walked everywhere (except the stadium and Mercado de la Merced).

There weren't any sculptures when I was there though.

Yeah it's some festival thing they do. I've got a bunch of pics somewhere.

One interesting possible (?) positive for expat US grinders such as ourselves, is that under the Paul Ryan/House Republican tax proposal, the US would shift from a global income system to some sort of a territorial system. So you get taxed where you earn your $$.

Whether the changes would even apply to us small business sole propietor-types or only corporations, and whether the House version even wins out, etc. we'll see.

Yeah with Trump's planned tax cuts and infrastructure spending, it will be entertaining to see the parties switch positions on fiscal responsibility. As well as their opinions on the merits obstructing legislation😉

For part-time, low stakes MTTs, SNGs & Spin&Go's will always have some $$ to be made.

Any bigger/significant $$ is much harder to come by these days (the logical progression, though it has been sped up a bit by several factors).
