Wow, that's ****ed up. Poor people can't even watch tv with their crappy rabbit ears there. I'm guessing the numbers of people going the internet/netflix/YouTube route and saying **** tv of any kind must be pretty high. Or saying **** the government. How exactly do you prove in court what someone was doing in their house beyond a reasonable doubt? Or does that not apply there either?

Its always good to hear that the US isn't the only ****ed up crazy country though.

I think the rules are that if you own a TV, then you have to pay the license TV. There's a bunch of kooky stuff on the internet about it, I'm not really across the details.


Lacky - I think the US is much less ****ed up than most places, you at least have the pretence of limiting the power of your Government to make stupid rules interfering in your life. The UK Government is employing a new police squad to review mean and nasty comments on Facebook and Twitter; Australian Government schools are beginning to prohibit students from clapping in class; the Isle of Man Government prohibits me from renting out my apartment for a short time because it doesn't have a microwave or TV in it (and routinely prosecutes people for having literally trivial amounts of weed on them).

I saw something about the TV licensing in the UK like 30 years ago, I think on 60 minutes. The cops were going door-to-door checking if people had unlicensed TVs.

I'm buddies with the first two on FB. TheUsher has a kid now. good2cu has a serious gf he galavants all over the world with.

The way it works today is that the licensing authority simply checks its database of people who have paid against the total population database. If you haven't paid, you get a letter telling you to pay.

Only if you don't then pay up, do you get a visit from the licensing authority. If they decide you have a TV, you have to pay the license fee. They don't have to prove anything. The only way to get out of it is to prove to them that you don't have a TV. That means allowing them to search your home when they visit until they are confident that you don't have anything that is capable of receiving a TV signal.

Been awhile. How's everyone? I was using my laptop for streaming to my tv so I've been too lazy to check out 2p2 lately.

I see pudge is still crushing.

I've been busy growing up. Working on a career post poker, bought a house, had my gf move in, putting an apartment in the basement.

Don't miss the stress of poker.

I'd say I miss the income and flexibility of poker, don't miss the stress or hand pain.

I still play at the local casino. But 1/2 and it can be as stressful as I want it to be. I can either just sit and play straight forward, or get in and mess around and try to squeeze out small equity in lots of hands.

But I haven't played in months.
