Raise to 60 pre. He overdonkbet the flop which either means he has a draw or has the nuts and wants to get paid. I would honestly fold the flop for the simple reason we can pick a better spot. If we call flop, we must call the inevitable shove on turn. I may shove flop on certain villains but since its your first hand... I pick a better spot.

Re: $1 A9 with donkbets

I think something more like 55-65 is sufficient pf. And btw, A8o is marginal opener from that position, imo. Not saying wrong, but I'd not raise any lighter from there, fwiw.

On flop, I don't want to call an overbet for 1/4 my remaining stack 3way not closing the action with only tpwk. I just let it go right there.

Re: $1 A9 with donkbets

Fold pre. A8o plays meh at best from the HJ. You are playing $1 sngs, so i guess your postflop skills are not good enough yet to compensate for the meh'ishness of A8o.
You'll flop a lot of nothing and a lot of weak hands that won't be able to withstand much heat if any.

As played:
Flop, well, w/o any info on villain his fullpot donkbet looks quite strong. I mean, the best you can hope for is that he donks AceLittle because he is an idiot, but we don't know that yet. I'd just sigh and fold.

Turn, given the pot odds (40% with icm), could be a breakeven call on the turn. could swing into + or -ev territory depending on his range.

I agree on preflop, I only noticed my misclick while posting

I tend to agree on postflop - even if we hit our Ace, which is a pretty good flop, we're apparently not happy, so why are we opening then anyway?

Snapfold pre. Get into the habit of not playing this kind of hand early.

So if this is a snapfold, what could/should I open here?

Hands that you're going to be happier when you hit top pair would be better. Maybe ATs+, KQ, pairs. Something like that. When you get better, add a few more hands in maybe, but you just don't need to or really want to play too many small pots early. You'd much rather have strong starting hands that you can play confidently postflop.
