1.50s or 3.50s on stars?

I want to play the 6max turbos on Stars. The $1.50's are $1.32 + $0.18, and the $3.50s are $3.19 + $0.31. My friend says the $1.50s are too much rake and that I'll have a hard time showing profit or good ROI, but I don't feel like I have a big enough BR for the $3.50s if I go on a downswing.

Is .18 on 1.50 really too much rake to show decent ROI?

you can mix buy ins you know, you dont have to play just one buy in if you drop some $ drop to just $1.50s just a thought i dont know what your roll is, nor your experience

Have the micros toughened up so much? When I was starting out it was 1+0,20 regular speed and they were very very beatable.

Start at the 1.50s and if you get to 100 take a shot.

Re: 1.50s or 3.50s on stars?

Would you reccomend somethign other than the 6max turbos? would FR bet better to build a BR? I just do the 6max turbos because I can get in more volume but the rake is pretty high.

Just checked and the FR regulars have 14% rake (.21) and the FR turbos have 12% as well. That's pretty ridiculous no?

Re: 1.50s or 3.50s on stars?

It is crazy high rake but you have to take into account the level of play at those levels compared to higher stakes. Much much higher ROI's are obtainable at micro stakes and this compensates so that profit can be turned. IMHO i would not be worrying about such things at all as time would be much better spent improving your game as this will be a much more profitable investment of time. Play what your roll allows and move up when you can don't worry if you are giving more money to the poker site as all games are beatable if you are good enough and the micros are always the easiest to beat.

In conclusion if you can't make money at the 1.50's then you can't make money any higher definately and you need to focus on other problems with your game rather than how much rake you are paying.
