1,50$ problem

Hello!

I often find myself in this spots. When there is 10 ppl left and I´m in like 8/10 place. So I often shove in this spots and get knocked out.

But if I just fold, then I will often be 8/9 place on the final table. Do you guys shove in spots like this with no reads?

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $600(BB) Replayer
SB ($8,668)
BB ($3,070)
UTG ($4,258)
CO ($4,954)
Hero ($4,316)

Dealt to Hero J 3

fold, fold, [color=red]Hero raises to $4,266

Re: 1,50$ problem

you asked a really broad question.

in order to figure out what ranges you need to be jamming in spots like these you need to start messing around w/ programs like icmizer/icmexplorer/sngwiz. with these programs you simply input the data from the hand history and it will spit out a range based on a number of factors. for 45 mans and bigger mtt's it becomes a bit more difficult to really pick an optimal range when we are not on the bubble. calculating cEV can help you start a foundation for a range and then comparing that with icm/nash ranges can help you refine your range.

i would suggest using icmizer. http://www.pokericmcalculator.com/icmizer/#default
its a really solid free program that accomplishes all the same things as sngwiz.

just remember that the ranges you get from these programs are not %100 perfect. we have to make assumptions on our opponents calling ranges and things like fold equity/blinds going up have effects on our decisions that these programs cannot calculate. just take it all with a grain of salt and keep working at it.

Re: 1,50$ problem

But do you analyze the situation as a bubble situation? Because if we just use the default option for 45mans (don´t remember the word) then it would suggest us to push like 50% of the hands almost allways.

Re: 1,50$ problem

using cEV is a good starting point when you are not close to the bubble. if you are getting within 9 or so ppl to it and its an mttSNG like a 45/90 man than you are going to make your own payout structure in icmizer/sngwiz. if you primarily play 45 man tourneys you should spend more time over in the mttSNG forum than here which pertains exclusively to 9/18man. but learning 9man icm is a really good foundation to build from as its generally the tightest.
