Transition to Limit

I've previously (and exclusively) played MSNL and had done well pre-BF at NLHE 6-max and full-ring. I've started to play online again and wanted to thoroughly learn all the games, starting with LHE.

I've read through several posts of players starting limit from a NL background, and some of the better books for limit, so I think I have a fairly good understanding of the main adjustments that I'd need to make. That being said, I had a couple questions left:

1. What adjustments should I be making at the microstakes level (0.10/0.25) that I should be wary of as I move up limits?
2. What are generally accepted "good" win rates at LHE in terms of big bets/100?
3. How does variance with respect to win rates vary with NL? How many hands do I need to play to have relative confidence that my win rate is stable? (For example, 100k hands is generally accepted in NL as a decent hand sample to look at for a consistent win rate)

Re: Transition to Limit

If you can affrod to "start" at 15-30, and can back it up with talent from another form of poker that you are going to beat it, then make the transition. Other than that, the games are too tight and tougher these days to beat the games at limit holdem. And there are too few tables to make it worth it.

Re: Transition to Limit

1. you might be folding more at the microstakes as people tend not to semibluff at the lower limits as much compared to the higher limits
2. 1BigBet/100hands
3.i would like to think that 100k is a good baseline. but bad runs of greater than this do happen.

if you can beat the MSNL games, and especially at short handed, i would suggest sticking to those games for your income. in todays conditions online LHE should only be considered for recreation given the alternative games out there. moving up to the limits where money matters will take some time and the game selection is very sparse up there to boot.

Re: Transition to Limit

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. The reason I've been learning all the games is because I've heard that there will be occasionally be really soft mixed high limit live games and that I didn't want to be stuck in a live NL game where edges would be much smaller against other regulars, so at least I can become versatile and have greater depth as a player over the long run (and people tend to say that the process of learning all the games generally makes you better, or at least, think about situations/strategy differently.) I'm a US player so just experimenting given our post-BF online poker situation.
