Re: Should I bother with LHE at all?

I played a mess load of LHE hands before I dabbled with NLHE. After the NLHE experience it really adds new meaning in LHE to the expression "bet your damn hand."

I'm sure similar NLHE concepts would be reinforced comparing the difference to LHE.

i know

I actually wish I could find someone who is winning in my database because then I could study them and figure out what the hell they know that I don't

Cain: I have seen you play and there is not much money to take from you.

Zeldark: S/N please? No fair hiding from us if you are on merge

You're going to find someone winning a couple K sample of hands, intuit their style from showdown hands and then become a winner like that? No wonder you're having trouble moving to 6m.

Play like BigBadBabar or Bellatrix. Win. Ez game. When these winning players tell you to do something different than you're doing, don't tell them that you know better. Go watch their vids, look at your own game, actually change stuff, improve, and hope that helps you win.

Seriously, the whole Eeyore thing wears at times. You understand that Bellatrix is saying that you're wrong as strongly as she can, by offering you action that your statements are incorrect. She's A) good a poker and B) willing to put money where her mouth is.

Re: Should I bother with LHE at all?

I may or may not be on Merge.
But then again I might be on Cake.
Aren't there other places that I could be playing?

It'd help if I knew which sites were part of the Merge family.
Google time!!

I'm flinging chips around somewhere, that's for sure.

Come on doug, I am obv joking about studying them and winning. I would like to think you know that I am taking my studies seriously. That does not mean that there is not a serious issue with the rake structure on Merge.

My 6 max game has improved immensely. I'm just not seeing the results yet. Losing an extra couple of BB/100 to rake does not help.

Re: Should I bother with LHE at all?

I'm thinking that philnewall's suggestion that playing the dead/dying game is willfully not maximizing is spot on. I really like playing limit (playing live NL in LV makes me aware how much), however, to maximize poker winning you may be going the wrong way. There are lots of fun/interesting games that are hardly worth learning. I don't think LHE is quite there, but we're working on it. The flip side is that LHE is a lot more fun to play than big bet games. So, be honest with yourself. Are you trying to maximize? Do you just play for fun, and are you willing to kind of break even after RB? If you're maximizing, play something else.

I thik we've been down this road before. In this climate I would be happy with breaking even before RB and making a few bucks because I see this timeframe as one where the games are going to be tough due to the legal/regulatory climate. I strongly believe LHE will come back in the post regulation time period so I am trying to focus on perfecting my 6 Max play to help me post regulation in the US.

I think that break even is a possibility. I know of a handful of players on Merge that show profit when I search them on PTR.
Spoiler:
I apologize if this is bad etiquette, posting screen names, but to use them as pure example, they're "winning" players. My PT database shows that I'm more or less break even (in terms of BB).

Spoiler:

My conclusion would be that it really depends on what you're looking for, in terms of ROI. The environment isn't exactly conducive to "make a living" off of LHE on Merge skins (even possibly NL, but I don't play, so I can't comment). But for entertainment value and maybe a little bit of "side cash," I think that it's totally possible. The games are much tougher, I'll give you that. The time you put into the game vs the return is meh. So studying and practice is needed to break even/win. Winnings are smaller than they used to be. But it's not a fully losing game. There is money to win, and players to beat. Just not as much...

My $0.02...

Re: Should I bother with LHE at all?

Yes, I found lagerlout in my d-base and he is a slightly wining player. Nice job roadster, what stakes is that?

Guys: Sorry if i get whiny from time to time. This has been the worst year of my poker career and I am fighting through it as best I can.

I have him playing 0.05/0.10 & 0.10/0.20 (where I play). I've seen him playing above that though, up to .50/1

Re: Should I bother with LHE at all?

Ant, as i offered to someone else earlier in the thread I will take up a prop bet that is lower than what Bella is offering, just come up with an amount and we can discuss the odds.

Also, using PTR, i can find winners kind of easily, in fact, all 50 at .25/.50- at least 2/4 are all winning for the year, which seems to dispel your theory.

I don't feel like taking on a prop bet...just hurry up and do my session review so you can point out why I can't beat the merge 6 max game
