Re: I plan on getting these three books

I tried going through MOP a couple of months ago and was thoroughly confused before I'd finished the section on the basics. Figure I'll do what Fret says and have a look at any parts that seem interesting and aren't too complicated I'm planning to go through Bellatrix's DC series once I've finished Jared Tendler's anti tilt book.

Has anyone here tried Colin Moshman's math book?

Re: I plan on getting these three books

Let me put in my plug for Phil Newall's "The Intelligent Poker Player". It covers many of the same topics that Mathematics of Poker does, but it is better written, easier to understand, and more specifically geared to limit hold 'em.

It's not for beginners-- obviously books like SSHE work better at that level-- but it's great for experienced players looking to understand the mathematics of limit hold 'em and game theory optimal play. It also has some great chapters on poker psychology as well.

Which of those would be best?
"The poker mindset"
"Elements of poker"
"The mental game of poker"

I bought mental game of poker. I think I might have tilt issues (and yes saying that feels like introduction in AA meeting, where you are the only one with the problem).
Whats google&carry?
Edit - Also what would you recommend for tilt issues

I cant say more about googling books...
I think all these books (about psychology) wasting of money. It's endless area to take money from players.
Recommendations? Nothing. You know yourself best.
Sometimes watching Barry Grenstein losing 500,000 to dwan (and stuff like that) helps... And your 1$ loss looks funny.
May be here's some advice...I'm trying not to take results in personal way... You know when you become angry about a certain player...i think it's 90% of tilt origine. Long run and revenge shouldnt be together

I just get too eager to win and forget there is a fold button (or even a call button for that matter).

That's not all that bad strategy, imo.

I have read comments that Harrington's Online Cash Game book was garbage. I had happened to get that book for a really good price. What are some of your thoughts on that book?

Yeah in comparison with his Harrington on Cash it's not that interesting.
It's about HUD and how to play against guys with certain stats.
you can find this info on 2+2 forum for free

Now how are some tourney books gonna make you better at LHE?

Sorry, I now see you were responding to Harrington on Cash and Harrington on Hold'em.
Meh, they are both not bad, but at the time HoH was written, it was an excellent intro to approach tourneys.

Re: I plan on getting these three books

yep, they are good to read if u are a really newbie. But these books I mentioned have much more sofisticated play, aggresivity.

Re: I plan on getting these three books

I found Jared Tendler's anti tilt book beneficial. I have major anger issues though so I have a lot of room for improvement in that area.
