Flopped nuts, could I have played it differently? Flopped nuts, could I have played it differently?

0.25/0.50 Bovada Full Ring, 7 handed

UTG+1 limps, and it limps around to me in the SB with AcJs. I raise to 0.50, BB folds, it calls around to the button who 3!. Button has been playing and raising many marginal hands. I cap and everyone calls. Five handed to the flop ($4.85).

Flop: QTK

I lead out with a bet, UTG+1 folds and the rest call ($5.85)

Turn: QTKT

I lead out again, and it calls around ($7.85)

River: QTKT3

Not happy about this card, but I bet out again. Fold, call, raise from the button. I call, and the other player just calls as well ($10.85).

The button turns over AK with no diamonds, CO shows 86

I'm relatively certain this is all standard, but I am wondering if there is anything I could have done differently here. The pot was very large, so he clearly had good odds to call down to the river and try and bink a diamond.

If I had flatted the 3! pre, I feel like maybe I could have checked and let the button bet out, and then c/r OTF, giving the diamond draw less incentive to come along, but how likely is it that I can fold it out? Is trying to fold out the diamond draw even the right mindset to be in here?

I would not cap pre flop. I think you played every post flop street perfectly.

I would cap pre. The buttons 3 bet changes nothing about the strength of your hand. You raised the first time for value so you should raise the second time for value.

A flush draw isn't folding no matter what you do.

I think being out of position with a hand that has significant RIO is an issue, as is the effect that 4betting has on your overall range. But I don't think 4betting is a catastrophic mistake or anything.

Hey welcome to the forums.

I'd call the 3 bet preflop. As played, I'd play the rest the same.

Had you called the 3 bet preflop, I like a check raise on the flop.
