ATTN: Micros

No, an unknown will not fold top pair if you raise.

No, I don't care what the board is.

Stop it.

I won't link the threads because I'm not that mean, but in the first two pages right now there are at least:

-One thread where someone suggests bluffraising a 4-flush river against an opponent whose most likely hands are top pair or 2-pair
-One thread where someone suggests 3betting ATo on a A789 board in an attempt to make AK fold
-One thread where someone wonders aloud whether someone who calls a raise preflop and then donks a A-rag-rag fold might fold Ax

Go on a scavenger hunt if you like.

tyler,

I find this line intriguing. And while it is good to make your opponent fold the worst hand so you don't have to make more hard decisions, what if he calls and checkraises the turn? How do I know when I have a bad hand in a big pot vs. when I have a hopeless hand in a big pot? And what if I picked up a draw? I assume it's raise-or-fold, but will a semibluff work against the nuts? Or is it more of a free showdown reraise?

Re: ATTN: Micros

xhad,

it's good when our opponent folds the worst hand because we have put him to a decision for some of his chips. since good poker is about making good decisions, and bad poker players make bad decisions, we profit when we make our opponents make decisions.

when we get check-raised on the turn, we fold. duh.

raising also helps us figure out if we have a bad hand or a worthless hand, because opponents never raise unless we are crushed, so we save money by folding. a bet saved is the same as a bet earned!

drawing is for pussies. what, your hand isn't good enough yet, ya whiner? maybe you should switch to 5-card stud.
