You need to read up on how these kinds of addictions work. You don't get "cured" and become a recreational gambler. Tell Cain he needs to stay on the wagon.

Apologies to Tyler, Doug, and any other micros folks who made it to the meetup. I'm just not going to make it this time. Maybe next year.

You are still making the assumption based on limited information that certain things were a way. Likewise am I, so at minimum i really doubt you can say he should or shouldn't do something. I never said he was cured, because I never said there was a disease to begin with. I was saying there was a red herring.

I returned home to find that the fridge is not functioning, punishment for not spending quality time with Tyler.

Well, the good news is that it's 1.5 years old and I bought the extended warranty, and I'm still covered. (Regular warranty ends at 1 year. That would have been very unhappy-making.)

The bad news is that it will have to wait until Tuesday before they get out here to check it out. Lots of food has moved from the fridge to the garbage, and a half sheet-pan of baking soda is there to absorb the odors that formed.

The freezer is still seems cold, so it might be nothing more than the thermostat in the fridge part. I want to wait another day before making that call. I fill the empty space of the freezer with water bottles as a temperature buffer (water holds cold better than air), so I can't tell if it's just slowly warming up or if it's really keeping itself cold.

Yes, I'm back playing. I appreciate all the concerns I really do. I think A_Schupick said it best when he said

I thought poker was the problem. I really did. But after doing a lot of soul searching (A LOT) and talking to various counselors and preachers, I realized that poker wasn't the problem but the solution to the problem....which was my failing marriage. I'm not going to get into why it failed b/c to this day I'm not 100% why. We just grew apart I guess. Without getting into too much detail I'll just say that I was using poker to fill a void in my life that my marriage was not. I didn't feel respected in my marriage but I did as a poker player and desperately needed that.

Anyways, my life now is better than ever. My relationship with my kids is better now than ever. I have a smoking hot ex-model girlfriend (sick brag). Life is great. Poker is just a hobby now. Almost 2 years off is long enough lol. So come take my monies before I remember how to play.

Who has two thumbs?

It was a 4 year extended warranty for $180 on both the fridge and the dishwasher that I purchased together. (I only know this because it's on the receipt that's connected to the warranty information card.) $45/year to cover two major appliances? It seemed like not a bad investment, especially because I'm not super-handy around the house. If a pipe leaks under the dishwasher, I'm not sure I trust myself to successfully fix it, or if I manage to fix it to get the dishwasher back into place without breaking something else.

I don't have the heart to tell him that there aren't 24 tables to play on Merge.
