Ok, so this part probably needs a response. I mean I think BBB's portrayal of the Smash Brothers situation is pretty accurate. He did forget to mention that Pikachu >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Kirby and it's not even close. Also, if any 2, 3, or 4 chumps would like to take BBB and myself on for money (or dignity and pride, which is sort of important too) with any handicap we'd gladly accept the challenge and the outcome would be unfortunately humiliating for all comers. Pikachu was unfortunately also emasculated in the later versions and I have, therefore, not played them in protest.
Also, as the person who's probably been closest to BBB's rise to poker and micros greatness I'd like to say that everyone should pretty much heed his advice, particularly concerning tilt/emotional control. He certainly has improved his game the hard (and smart) way. Also, if I'd taken half the beats he had I almost certainly would have thrown many more things than I have (and I don't think he ever threw anything). I think I'll address more of his comments in pieces but there's a lot to say, gogogogogo.

Re: 5K POST: THE BABAR STORY + WELL
goofball,
i most recently read 'the four hour workweek' which i thought was interesting. obviously some of it is pie-in-the-sky as a lot of self-help-ish type books are but it has some useful tips in it for time management and some ideas that resonated with me about work trajectories that people take vs what they ought to take, etc. and since so far i've taken a nontraditional work trajectory it resonates a little more, probably.
the book i reread before that was dostoevsky's 'crime and punishment' as i'm a big fan of russian literature.
oh, a lighter-reading type of book that i read was 'the kite runner' over thanksgiving break. that was a very good read and well-written in my opinion.
in general i like some fantasy stuff (wheel of time series by robert jordan is good if you like that kind of stuff, kind of tolkienesque), sci fi, russian literature, lots of classic literature in general, "great books" type of stuff, books dealing with history, and a ton of genres really. i read pretty widely. i think gabriel garcia marquez's stuff is very good and so are borges and neruda and garcia lorca and unamuno and a lot of the spanish language stuff.
okay i'll stop rambling now. sorry i don't have one 'change-your-life book' to recommend

TPK, ty for the solid post of endorsement. Your poker career has been solid as well and I don't think either of us would be where we are now without each other's help. I do think you tend to over-rate your skill with Pikachu, however. You don't even have a secondary character! Hopefully soon we can re-unite in HULA and show these fools what valuetown is all about.
also, you better post like six more times in this thread.

Right now, my roll (for live + online) is about $12,000; I've been beating the live $1/2 NL200 games for a while and play $2/5 NL500 occasionally.
Currently, I play $0.05/0.1 NL10. It's small, but online play is tougher, plus I have to get used to PT, PAHUD, and multitabling. Basically, my plan is to play about 20k-50k hands at each level and then move up.
Thanks again!
