Re: Everyday Scams

Saying you do extra pt in the army doesn't mean anything except you failed your pt test. Extra pt is a joke and means u stretch and walk an extra hour. And unless this was at basic no nco is going to stand over you to see what u eat for every meal. And just because you can't get off post doesn't mean u can't get crap food from the shopette or the million fast food restaurants on post.

Now can we get back to hearing some solid scams plz

Fatties passing jet fuel costs onto their fellow skinny airplane passengers is a pretty good one.

I honestly don't see how this is a response to my post. Mine was mostly referring to the rebound period after recent weight changes and whether your body will adapt to compensate for these changes.

Your example does interest me in I would like to see a study performed like the one you mentioned where the calories are divided out differently (whether in form of "healthy" or "nonhealthy" calories or in different timing cycles like Tom Collins mentioned, evenly or binged) and see how the subjects bodies reacted. I think it would be interesting and don't claim to know what the results would be.

If you can link me to the study you mentioned, I would like to read up on your example as it interests me.

8000 calories is super easy. There are plenty of 5000 calorie meals eating out. Add in a bunch of beer or other easy liquid calories, and normal other meals, and it's super easy.

I'm curious what this meal would be in calories. It has to be at least 4000 calories.

Outback
1/2 bloomin onion (950 calories)
2 loaves bread w/ butter (400 calories?)
potato soup (350 calories)
loaded baked potato (350 calories)
20 oz porterhouse - 1000 calories
2 22oz beers 550 calories
1/2 chocolate thunder - 750 calories

total - 4350 calories
Bread might be more, it's not listed on their website.
When I gain weight, it's almost always when I eat out excessively. I had a job where I was on the road 50% of the time, gained probably about 30lbs in 6 months doing that.

8000 calories is probably a bit high, but 6500-7500 is certainly within reach.

I'm probably outside the norm on this, but definitely not when your accounting to people who are overweight. When I was intentionally gaining weight, I put on 40 lbs in 4 months without any difficulty at all, but there was a lot of protein shakes in there.

Another way to quickly hit the high calorie marks - all you can eat chicken wings. I would eat 60ish wings, that's good for 4800 calories. Add in a few beers, you hit 5500 easy. Add in a few other meals, you are at 7500.

Re: Everyday Scams

ytf,

"Here's what happens when I have a salad for lunch"
Yep, that's how I feel too. However, I know I can eat a relatively healthy sandwich and be satisfied enough, even though I would really rather have a giant cheeseburger and onion rings and a milkshake. I sometimes do have a giant lunch like that, but most days I go with something relatively healthy because not being fat is more important to me than eating the richest and most delicious food every day.

"You guys who eat healthy: do you feel that way after eating a meal?"
From time to time I'm lazy or go on vacation or go out a lot and end up putting on a few extra pounds. Then I eat salads and drink less and generally eat healthier until I'm back in the shape I want. And during that time, I'm generally hungry a lot and thinking about the next meal all the time. Because being in shape is more important to me than being a little hungry from time to time, I power through this, plus drink a ton of water and much on stuff like carrots and celery.

"I have three kids, and although they all eat the same foods and get equal amounts of exercise, one of them is fat."
While people do have metabolic and other differences, I bet the main reason is that the one kid is eating a little bit more and is a little bit less active.

"Does this not demonstrate that we're all different?"
Huh? It demonstrates that if you eat less, you gain less weight.

"See the part above where I'd be so hungry that I'd cry myself to sleep, and tell me again about me being mentally weak?"
It's all about willpower, tradeoffs, and priorities. I would also love to eat way more desserts and steaks and fried food, but if I did that I'd be way fatter than I'd be happy with. And I'd love to have ripped six-pack abs, but to do that I'd have to sacrifice way more eating and drinking than I'm willing to do.

"I'm dying to ask you this: since I made the choice still feel hungry after eating more than you would eat in one sitting, do gay people choose to be gay? Is there a mental weakness there?"
Huh? That doesn't even make sense. You have a choice to eat healthier foods and smaller portions, but you choose not to because you value eating what you like eating and not being hungry more than you value being in better shape.

"breakfast is still the same (it's not always bacon, I rotate in ham and sausage)."
Omelette, bacon, and buttered toast for breakfast every day huh? Trust me, dude, I would love to eat an egg sandwich w/ bacon and cheese and a side of hash browns every morning. But I choose not to, just like you choose not to eat healthier.

There's a lot of truth in this. YTF has little belief that he can change and has begrudgingly accepted it. Personally, I'm not so certain that he's explored all of his options as fully as he possibly can.

My weight has fluctuated a lot. (Well, a lot for my frame.) I know how incredibly easy it is to rationalize having a gut and not being able to keep it off.

It takes a lifestyle change. Not a temporary one. The change must be permanent. I drink soooo much less, I rarely eat the complimentary chips/bread at restaurants, I rarely stuff myself (this is huge--people eat past their hunger way too much), I only drink water and milk, sweets are for special occasions, and I exercise a lot. At this point I'm more extreme in my health than most people need to be.

The beautiful thing is, you adapt. I always needed those drinks at social occasions. I always wanted those chips and salsa before the meal. I always wanted that slice of pizza that put me over the edge. The thought of running for any length of time or lifting weights was crazy. Now I feel lacking if I can't fit exercise in. I haven't had alcohol in months. And I just don't crave chocolate, fatty foods, etc. Getting to this point is attainable, but most of the time people lose a bunch of weight, are proud of themselves, then slip back into old habits.

I remember all the crazy cravings and still feeling hungry after eating, e.g., a single sandwich. It's just something you have to put up with.

Also, the amount of calories it takes to gain weight at 300 lbs, or hell, to stay at 300 lbs, is insane. An omelette for breakfast and two sandwiches for lunch won't do it unless dinner is a human baby. Or maybe if breakfast is a chocolate pie omelet and the sandwiches are actually footlong subs.

OMG I had a heart attack just reading that. Can you seriously eat all that? So if that's just 4350 calories that means you're still taking down like a large sandwich from quiznos (1000 cals) + an omelette with bacon and **** for breakfast (1000 cals) to get to 6500ish cals. Oh my god.

Re: Everyday Scams

the easiest way to add calories is whole milk. when i did gomad i would drink it after getting home from work in about 3 hours. if i was home all day i could have easily added another gallon from morning through afternoon, thats 4800 cal right there before eating any food.

YTF,

I feel like this has been rehashed a lot but you don't have the willpower to eat less because your body is conditioned to eat 4000+ calories a day.

Trust me, when I cut to eating 1200 cals a day from between 3-4000 cals a day I'd be in physical pain from the hunger. My stomach rumbled for hours at night. I chewed flavored toothpicks, ate carrots, and drank water. The pains go away when you get used to eating like a normal person. The US Army couldn't get you under 200 because you snuck fattening meals and snacks into your diet.

YTF,

Put much simpler than all the stuff I and others have written here: if JP OSU and LFS can do it, so you can you. It's just a matter of whether you really want to or not.
