Good thing I was away from the keyboard, that guy really pushed my button with his "fatties choose to be fat" stance. But I've cooled off now, 1000-word post averted.

Wrong thread. What does this have to do with airplane seating?

Hate to derail the thread, but this is an accurate stance - unless you claim some otherworldly force is shoving food down your gullet while your brain and body protests.

I used to be fat because I'd eat a disgusting amount of terrible food. When I chose to stop this I stopped being fat. Same goes for tons of other fat people. I only had to lose 80 pounds - but someone like say, this guy (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...3&postcount=34) had to lose a lot more. He makes some posts on the subject of how he lost weight and it was basically eating less.

Well I'm right, so there's that. Don't want to derail this thread trying to convince you why you're fat and no one wants to sit next to you on an airplane but if you want to write down a list of your weekly diet I can show you why you're a fatty.

If you want to go about life just being a fatty and not accepting responsibility for it then that's your prerogative, but don't complain that people don't want you around them in many different close-quarter settings, not just airplanes.

I'm also pretty sure that there is nothing illegal about discrimination against fat people.
He can know about it but still be in denial about how he is responsible for his gluttony.

It makes it worse that he's done it before being that just means he mentally chooses to be a fat. Look at JP OSU, that is ****ing impressive and proves that even the most obese can turn it around if they are mentally strong. He's just weak mentally and won't take responsibility for himself.

There is some sympathy in that there is a difference between people in how much pleasure food gives people. Fat people typically get much less satisfaction out of each bite of food, so they eat more. So it's somewhat of a component out of their control, but it's nothing that you can't overcome. Besides the extreme cases. I think there is some disease where kids will literally eat everything they can find and pretty much have no control over it. Obviously they cannot be blamed for their obesity.

I'm slightly overweight, but I know it's because I eat too much and don't do enough activities. I've lost weight before and it's just a matter of eating smaller portions. I'll neglect that because I like food, but don't let myself get completely out of control. If I creep near the upper portion of my "acceptable" weight limits, I'll cut back, and the weight drops off. Sure, it sucks I can't enjoy eating as much, but it's a choice I make one way or the other.

If I recall correctly from another thread, breakfast was an omelette, bacon, and toast w butter, while lunch was 2 sandwiches with cheese/mayo and chips. I can't remember dinner but it obviously doesn't matter.

the whole fat thing is dumb anyway, because certain people are going to be pre-disposed to being fat.

there are thousands of thin guys who eat like **** and never gain any weight.

i know for myself, who has struggled with weight my whole life (even when i was 5-10 180 in HS i was always "the fat one"), if i dont eat like a bird and exercise all the time im just gonna gain and at a minimum not lose weight.

i went from 310 to 215 over 8 months once, and even 215 is still considered terribly overweight for a 6 ft tall person. as soon as i stopped my "diet" which consisted of nothing but small portions of eggs, fish, chicken, veggies, tuna, no bread, pasta, soda, fast food, etc- i put on 25 more pounds and settled in at 240. and that was still without being a pig- but just eating normal meals, bread once in awhile, and some more junk type foods rarely (namely during football season- have some wings, or a couple slices of pizza).

people who have never been fat just wont understand what its like.

No there aren't. It's impossible to eat at a huge caloric surplus and not gain weight, or eat at a huge caloric deficit and not lose weight.

Fatties are notorious for being atrocious at estimating/recording actual caloric intake and expenditure.

yeota,

So when you ate less, you lost lots of weight. How is that different than anyone else?

You don't have alien friends, you just can't know how much they eat all day every day because you're not with them all the time.

Weight a minute, are you guys saying that metabolism rates are a constant across the entire species? Aren't you missing an important piece of the math puzzle?

difference is when i plateaued @215 while still "dieting". This was "according to my calorie log site" while eating roughly 1200 calories a day, including only my carbs/sugars from fruits and veggies. worked out 3-4 times a week, as well as played softball, reffing basketball, doing marching band, and other random physical activities. woke up and slept on a regular college schedule- woke up by 10 or 11 in the morning and in bed by 2 or 3.

then, once eating a "normal" diet- roughly 16-1800 calories a day, i put on 25 lbs in a month or so.

i mean for 8 months straight, i literally ate tuna with no mayo or anything but hot sauce, baked fish, 2 eggs, and grilled chicken. 2x a month i would have a steak.

only snacks would be fruit or nuts.

I didn't say they were intentionally lying to you. Just pointing out that you can't eat at a huge caloric surplus and not gain weight.

They are not a constant, but the difference between an extremely fast metabolism and an extremely slow one is not nearly large enough to prevent weight loss. Like what yeota is saying about him ballooning in weight off a couple slices of pizza while his magical friend eats twice as much and can't gain any weight (assuming all other variables constant) is impossible.

Metabolism rates for constant levels of energy expenditure don't change a huge amount (for people of the same weight). Amount of muscle mass will play a factor, but it's going to be much smaller than what fatties estimate the difference is.

The guy who eats a ton and never gains weight either doesn't really eat a ton, exercises a huge amount, or some combination of the two.

The average person in 1700 or whatever ate like 4000 calories a day but wasn't fat because they worked their ass off in the day, and the fatty today who eats 4000 calories probably sits on his ass doing nothing.

This is complete and utter fabrication. LOL @ anyone, even a 95 pound girl, eating 1600 cals a day and gaining 25 lbs in a MONTH.

Come live with me for a month. I will pay all your expenses and cover all food costs, and feed you 1600 calories a day. 10k to you if you gain 10+ lbs, 10k to me if you don't.

yeota,

So you claim that you ate 1600-1800 calories a day, were reasonably active, and went from 215 to 240 in a month.

LOL. LOLOLOLOLOL.

yeota,

While you may have a slower metabolism, thyroid issues, etc etc, the main reason you gain weight is because you have absolutely no concept of the amount of food you are consuming.

Is this even possible if you are bedridden?

I guess if you get 30lbs of IV fluids put into you it is.
