I didn't always revere him in my top tier of comedians. He was kind of a lovable hack. And I say that in an adoring way. Variety is the spice. I've bought more than 1 of his albums so he was doing something right. If I had to pick my favorite bit of his it was the Italy bit.

He played the Sands all the time when I lived in Vegas in the 90s, but outside of those ads, I didn't know anything about him. Man, I wish I had gone to see him then, tickets were dirt cheap. He was one of my favs, I'm always delighted when they play his bits on the SiriusXM stand-up comedy channel.
On a personal note, I've thought about trying to come up with five minutes of stand-up and giving Open Mic Night a shot, and after ten years, I've almost got five minutes written--but the only half-way funny stuff is the fat jokes, which I can't do any more.
