It's not that people ignore that stuff, it's that people approach this reasonably as a bell curve so you can effectively ignore downies, superfatties, and supermodels in the evaluation.

I know that personally I have a hard time rating guys. Whereas with girls feel I could effectively rate them in the classic 1-10 system of ID that would hold up given a large sample size. Basically, unless a guy is ridiculously good looking, or hideously deformed or just really at the low end of the scale, they all tend to get blurred out in the middle and I'm really clueless. I've been caught many times thinking maybe a guy wasn't no thing special to find out girls tended to all find him good looking, or the other way around. Can only assume this is some sort of natural sexual hetero bias.

Wonder other people's thoughts on it. Like, if being gay, are you then much better at rating guys. Again, I would assume, but really have nothing to go on. Wonder for women also.

This is due to our propensity to homophobia in this society. Mores and norms dictate that males should not find other males attractive and to do so is faux paus.

A numerical rating system for women only works for you because you know what you find attractive and you know what the opposite if that is for you. Since your not allowed to find men attractive it will be hard to form a scale with which to rate them.

This the furthest from a natural bias, it arises from decades of homophobia enforced through mass media and institutions of society. It is in fact a form of bigotry.

Never told any girls that because it's not true. One can always tell if males are attractive. All you have to do is realize that being labeled a homosexual is trivial an not be afraid of being judged as one. The fact of the matter is that if you rate a males attractiveness most of the time no one will judge you but we have had it beat into our heads ad nauseum about how being homosexual is just about the worst thing a male can be and just about all males in the USA are TERRIFIED of being labeled homosexual so they pretend things like "I can't tell if guys are attractive enough" for fear they may be labeled and their life will end.

I disagree. I agree that guys don't want to be labeled as gay but I don't think guys are just faking not being able to tell if someone is attractive. I really can't tell at all if a guy is attractive or not. Like I can tell if he's hideous but otherwise I cannot.
